The Agriculture Department said that it would not use the funds to cover benefits in November, imperiling a program 42 million people use to pay for groceries.

A lot of Americans are going to be hungry come November. If you're in a place where you can, its time to donate to your local food bank

Guys, we need a ballroom. Fuck your food or whatever. Find some cake.

Wonder when someone is going to anonymously donate millions to feed the starving.

[–] AmbitiousProcess@piefed.social 28 points 2 weeks ago

And if they do, I have no doubt in my mind Trump will hold it up as an example for why we "don't need food stamps because private individuals will donate anyways" or something stupid like that.

Smart money's on when the oppressed millions might spontaneously donate some decisive, reciprocal action to specific ^flaccid locations on certain governing bodies. 🤷🏼‍♂️ History shows it to be statistically likely, but smart money's betting on when, not if.

Of course not. He still thinks only Democrats need them. Just like the MAGA folks...who also use them, but think they are ok because they really need it, and they'd work if they could.

Society is three missed meals away from anarchy. I guess they’re counting on hungry masses being backed into a corner with violence as the only way out? Starving your populace is also an act of violence, so they started it ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Possibly, but they could also be trying to instigate a fight. If they do then they can declare martial law and do things like suspending elections.

History tells you what happens when people get hungry.

How can they be so dumb while also having all this Project25 shit with decades of planning, and criminal masterminds like Peter Thiel giving money & advice. I honestly don't know. The only explanations I can think of are that these tech bros aren't quite as clever as they think they are, and that there's even more infighting going on than we're aware of. And that DJT uses his presidential powers to their fullest extent, like a petulant toddler, and only listens to advice when he feels like it.

Because it's like at least 3 different factions vying for control, not one monolith.

You have the religious purists who want a Christian Fascist world, you have large money groups trying to make as much bank as they can and you have Techno Fascists trying to destroy America to make techno feudalism.

The cruelty is the point!

Imagine if other countries started sending food relief to the US. The shame.

[–] AreaKode@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

That's the best way for my wife to get me to do something that I've been putting off. She just starts doing it for me. The same is enough that I tell her to go stop, and I finish. Shame is a motivating force for normal people who aren't in a cult.

I’m finding more and more use for this lately, but…

Because they simply don't want to
