“Well, we have some numbers that [NBC’s] Kristen Welker put up in a story about Donald Trump's approval ratings for the economy and most of them are below 40 percent, lowest numbers he's ever had,” co-host Joe Scarborough interjected. ”He's all over the world, you've got a government shutdown, you've got 1 in 4, 1 in 5 Americans who depend on food assistance not going to get it.”

He has already demonstrated that he de-registers non-Republican voters, in order to swing election-victories, from what I've read, & somebody was investigating a few thousand deregistrations at 1 single riding, in the Harris-got-beat election..

He can declare the Democratic party a "terrorist organization", & denaturalize all Democrat party members.

Popularity is no-longer required, to win elections, in the US of A.

Soft-dictatorship is what's happening, now, but as soon as he can, it'll turn HARD.

Every possible escalation, his hidden-brain people will engineer for him.

You are seeing the gradual snuffing of the US of A, by its president.

There won't be any constitution, once he finally unmasks the real-truth.

It all comes down to how much balls he's got, to be aggressive with his inevitable design, now.

40% of Americans have their heads firmly up their ass.

[–] Cosmonauticus@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago

I'd argue different. Having your head up your ass involves some form of introspection

[–] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 6 points 6 days ago

Hey, be fair. Slightly below 40% of Americans have their heads firmly up their asses.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

Came here to say this. WTF. Who the hell are these people in the 40%?

Can I get a reality check of why the approval numbers actually matter? Is it the midterms? He’s cemented power all over and is taking action basically without repercussion so what does an approval rating really affect?

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 days ago

Exactly, Germans tried to kill Hitler more times than the allied forces. Not caring about polls is a feature of Facism.

Midterms will matter if the cheating is just gerrymandering rather than straight up vote manipulation. If Republicans think they still need to get the most votes to win they'll be looking at those sinking approvals among Republicans and get worried.

And when action is taken against Trump where people have to choose a side the general sentiment will matter. Authoritarianism isn't something that just happens and they now get to make all the rules. It's constantly tested and even with a loyalist infrastructure in government it still relies on regular people following their rules.

Thanks I really appreciate it. I have to check the facts against my anxieties sometimes and the best thing to do is ask for help to do a reality check.

It's a politics as a sport mentality and absolutely part of the problem.

Airplane, woman, pipe cleaner, airplane, donkey.... Shoot! It was dolphin! I'm just not presidentially smart like that.
