Enjoy being outside, because you are now unemployed and homeless

I've literally called out of work to go hiking on so many occasions (like 10 times just this year so far)

And I don't wanna stop

At my job, they take pictures of my screen every minute. They then run that through an AI.

They don't know I know.

I am happy that I live in a country with workers rights.

Thank you for sharing this story, I've never read it before and holy hell do I understand the main character!

This was my favourite author in high school. He wrote this stuff in the early 1900 but it's still so relatable for modern readers. I highly recommend "il fu Mattia Pascal" (the late Mattia Pascal) and a little less recommended "uno, nessuno, centomila" (One, no one, and one hundred thousands).

https://www.pirandellointranslation.org/someones-laughing this one is also good. It's satire against squadrism. (He "subscribed" to the fascist party due to fear and pressure, so he protested more criptically)

https://www.pirandellointranslation.org/the-license this one instead is against ostracism and singling out weaker people.

He also was a pioneer of meta-theater, with works like "sei personaggi in cerca d'autore" (six characters in search of an author).

I enjoy the faces on the laptop. It's like a very modern art piece showing the horrors of remote work.

Remote work looks like that thanks to covid. Before that, nobody wanted to see your face, maybe share the screen and that's it. It was a beautiful time. No tracking, no meetings, no stupid dailies, just pure self organized efficiency.

I've done this. Totally worth it.
