The death of the US Empire is funny until you realize that other countries will need to endure a bunch of US immigrants complaining that roads are too small and the food doesn't have corn syrup in it.

Sorry, I mean expats, that's the word when the immigrant is white

[–] ArsonButCute@lemmy.dbzer0.com 40 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

You know we don't like corn syrup right?

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 46 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

THEN WHY DO YOU PUT IT ON EVERYTHING

[–] djsoren19@lemmy.blahaj.zone 33 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

that's the fun part, it's been snuck into all of our foods that oftentimes we have little choice.

You can either cook all of your meals from scratch, or deal with high fructose corn syrup. That's livin in America.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 25 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Its even in a lot of our "ingredients" for example... Most Americans aren't making spaghetti sauce from scratch. So when it's pasta ragu night your getting an extra helping of sugar from the sauce. Most European ketchups are nearly inedible to an American palate.

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 2 points 2 weeks ago

They taste great to most Americans, the sugar is mostly in there to cover up low quality ingredients

[–] floquant@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 weeks ago

Spaghetti sauce is just tomatoes and spices. It gets ready by the time the spaghetti are cooked

[–] figjam@midwest.social 4 points 2 weeks ago

Because we have to keep the price of corn high. Duh.

[–] knightly@pawb.social 17 points 2 weeks ago

Corporate decided it was more profitable.

[–] EightBitBlood@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

That would be our corporate overlords wanting to keep corn farmers employed. It's not like we have bottles of it at our table. Companies just put it in everything since it's cheap, and since we don't have an effective government that stops capitalism from killing us, it gets put in everything and we die from heart disease.

we don't like corn syrup right?

Yeah, we need corn syrup.....please do not be insensitive to our addiction.

There is no stopping the impulsive need to add corn into everything. Corn for the fuel, corn for sugar, corn for the livestock, corn for the hole. If you can cram corn in it, we've done it.

Or country boys... no safer place to explore your feelings then among your corn.

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 41 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Please, President Xi, my people yearn for liberation and high speed rail

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 38 points 2 weeks ago

In the North American Regime, the state militia will kidnap your family if you say the vice president fucked a couch on the internet. Please Mr. Xi, end their oppression

[–] Malgas@beehaw.org 13 points 2 weeks ago

The Baja Blast is non-negotiable, though.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 20 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Why is Mountain Dew translated but Baja Blast is not?

[–] MintyFresh@lemmy.world 40 points 2 weeks ago

Baja blast as written is universal. Even uncontacted tribes know what's up with Baja blast

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 21 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

While they have Mountain Dew in China, I haven't been able to find images of a Baja Blast variant, it could be the reason.

Have you tried asking via hat?

[–] figjam@midwest.social 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

hat based communication is the way of the future.

[–] bigfondue@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Some things simply cannot be translated

[–] SantasMagicalComfort@piefed.world 14 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You think they're going to last a century?

Should be the decade of humiliation.

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 30 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

America has been embarrassing itself for much longer than a decade.

[–] SantasMagicalComfort@piefed.world 12 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

They started off this century pretty strong though.

I'd say it was the '60's that they started embarrassing themselves which means we have another forty years left.

[–] GregorGizeh@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Can i just say that i love your username (in reference to the disgusting one)

[–] SantasMagicalComfort@piefed.world 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

There's a user with the name "SatansMaggotyCumFart" or something like that. I think the person you're talking to is assuming your name is a play on that since it looks and sounds similar but isn't gross.

[–] SantasMagicalComfort@piefed.world 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That's disgusting who would do something like that?

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 weeks ago
[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 8 points 2 weeks ago

I mean if you ignore human rights violations and brutal segregationist policies then sure.

When Taiwan returns home and all Americans are addicted to fentanyl, this humiliation will end.
