Jared Kushner's financing role in Paramount's $108 billion US bid for Warner Bros. Discovery injects Trump-family interests into one of the biggest media battles in years, raising concerns over whether the president's influence could tip the scales.

Paramount Skydance on Monday launched a hostile bid for Warner Bros. Discovery in a last-ditch effort to outbid Netflix, which had announced a merger late last week, and create a media powerhouse.

Paramount said its offer includes financing from Kushner's investment firm Affinity Partners, along with financing from the Saudi and Qatari sovereign wealth funds and L'imad Holding Co, owned by Abu Dhabi.

U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters on Monday that he has not spoken with Kushner —who is married to Trump's daughter, Ivanka — about Warner Bros. Discovery, adding that neither Netflix nor Paramount "are friends of mine."

So I hated the idea of the Netflix merger. But somehow, I hate this even more. This fucking sucks.

The evil people are buying everything. Its been like this for 50 years.

[–] ZoopZeZoop@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I think it's been like this since money was invented.

[–] Sanctus@anarchist.nexus 7 points 4 days ago

Im just tired of the constsnt psychic damage that comes with sacrificing the world to Mammon

[–] MushuChupacabra@lemmy.world 33 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It's fucking disturbing how human Jared Kushner makes Mark Zuckerberg look.

[–] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 12 points 4 days ago

Kushner looks like a lizard person in human form that travels back and forth on a transiberian railway, raping and murdering children.

[–] rozodru@pie.andmc.ca 19 points 4 days ago (1 children)

so basically the same people that bought EA?

[–] sigmaklimgrindset@sopuli.xyz 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yep, Kushner was a part of that deal too. Here's a good summary of the political behind-the-scenes. Tiktok, EA, now CNN all going into Trump/MAGA hands within the past year. Netflix actually wanted to buy Paramount before the Skydance merger with David Ellison (Oracle Larry Ellison's hellspawn) as CEO, and now they're seemingly being cucked again for going after WB.

Kushner is also an integral part of the plan to turn the Gaza waterfront into the Israeli Dubai, so the world can spend their money with Israel, instead of the Muslims. Trump is making plans for luxury apartments, condos, and resorts, all along the waterfront, all under his control, and Kushner is his point man. That's why he wants Gaza cleared.

[–] Fredthefishlord@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Tell that to those who think trump would save Gaza

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 3 days ago

Anybody that thinks Trump is going to save anything is a delusional Pedocon.

[–] Carrolade@lemmy.world 15 points 4 days ago

A Trump ally using a bunch of funding from the Middle East to buy out an American company well-known for producing children's cartoons? Where'd their Islamophobia go?

If we had a real propaganda arm and a complete lack of morals, we could exploit this.

Next time some MAGA Republican decides to accuse someone else of corruption, I think it's only fair to slap the living shit out of them.

[–] n4ch1sm0@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 days ago

It really makes Nancy Pelosi's insider trading and other corporate democrat corruption look like fucking peanuts by comparison, doesn't it?

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Why wait? They don't have the wherewithal to see or care about the hypocrisy in their actions, start whenever you please

[–] _wizard@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

If you're just starting you're already streets behind most of us.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 3 points 3 days ago

It's not a race dearie. Less talkin more slappin

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Since Paramount belongs to belongs to the Ellison family, I'd honestly prefer NETFLIX buying WB. At least they'd just ruin it, Ellisons are gonna do worse.

[–] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

Why can't the employees have it instead. Not even an option lol. The people who actually built it

[–] EvilBit@lemmy.world 12 points 4 days ago (2 children)

If they win I guess I just stop watching movies forever?

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 29 points 4 days ago (3 children)

They want to own CNN, a network they say is left leaning. Its more Fox light, but that's not good enough for them. They want to have nothing but right wing media on the air.

[–] comrade_twisty@feddit.org 20 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

That’s also why they are attacking the BBC, BBC World Service is one of the most important independent news source in the US and they want to get rid of it asap.

[–] Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip 9 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

They had already installed a maga toady at CNN. Several years ago

[–] EvilBit@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

If they win I guess I just stop watching…things forever?

[–] Onyxonblack@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 days ago

Already have! All these shows, movies, etc. are just money-seeking endeavours. Capitalism. It's a waste to engage with Corporations. Fuck buying shit.

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 4 points 4 days ago

Watch independent movies. Pirate the rest. Support your local theater.

He looks angry he was summoned from Geppetto's workshop half way through his reverse transition into a wooden boy to sign this unethical business deal.
