They are fighting, one group wants to be even shitter than Trump, the other group wants to be even more shitter than they.

At the end of the day and they'll all vote in lockstep for Hitler if he had an R next to his name

Press (x) for doubt

Nah, they bitch and moan but they all vote the same. Don’t get your hopes up.

I'll believe MAGA is eating itself. They're very much at each others throats trying to figure out how to maneuver to be the next king.

But the people will still vote for the R after a name no matter what, so it doesn't really matter that MAGA is eating itself. Trump hasn't done a quarter of the damage to the country that the party has done for decades, he's just the newest phase of the cancer.

Yup all these same political analysts and news sites said the exact same thing right before Trump won a 2nd time.

This is "our" version of the "fell for it again" award. I really wish clickbaiters would STFU about their end.

[–] rustyfish@piefed.world 13 points 3 days ago

Oh! Again?! Maybe this time the epic downfall will come and everyone on the right will be imprisoned.

As has been prophesied!

Clickbait shit.

The thing is, it's all a grift, but there's only so much that can be grifted. Some of them were eating it up because they were hoping that once in charge, they'd benefit, but there's only so much space at the top

I think all eyes are on MTG. If she fails with her “power quit,” everyone will fall in line.

Maga is eating itself. I've been seeing that headline for like 11 months now. At this point I'm pretty sure these kind of headlines are to keep people subdued and complacent. Keep them thinking things aren't as bad as they really are.

There are two broad headline classes out there: headlines that rile up the rabid maga base, and headlines that promise hope/solace to progressives. The latter is like the op’s post, and also includes such chestnuts as “trump’s rating just sunk to a new low”. I’ve noticed that these hopium/copium headlines spoon fed to progressives are no less targeted and manipulative than right wing headlines. Even after years of disappointment, I still see friends clinging to these such headlines “SuReLy NoW sOMeOnE wiLL do SoMeThInG AbOuT tHE sHiTsHoW OuR CoUnTrY hAS bEcOme!!!”, and “FiNaLLy! He/ThEy WiLL be heLD aCcOunTaBLe !!!”. I’d be a liar if I didn’t admit even I get a small hit of optimism at sone of these headlines. But I quickly think back to Smith and Mueller and everything else that’s happened over the years and realise that not only anger can be manipulated to get clicks but hope can to. I pressed a friend hard why he keeps sharing these hopium headlines and after some deep discussion it came out that without hope he would spiral into depression.

Ive been seeing it for 9 years and it's been true, but a minor blip pretty much every time.

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 16 points 3 days ago

Yeah sure, sure. Let me know if anything actually happens instead of all this click bait dontchafeelgoodnow BS.

[–] the_q@lemmy.zip 14 points 3 days ago

This is just the grift machine doing it's job. Look, we're talking about it.

They will always show up for Trump. The leader, whose power is based on factionalism and grievance, is the only uniting force between the factions at his command.

but according to the media, it's DeMs In DiSsArAy!!!!!¡!!eleven!!!!

they do that because they know that republicans are a good story since they cannot govern but democrats do govern but are boring as hell, so they have to inflate public party discussions as a major fucking incident.

if it weren't for a very partisan media, partisan towards access and lazy journalism than actual investigative work and doing some basic journalistic work, the infighting between republicans in the era of trump would be a lot more well known and widespread than any of the relatively minor things democrats argue about.
