Welcome to the "highly noticable effects of climate change" section of the decline. We're somewhere between automated wars for food and water, and living underground permanently.

...hope you enjoy this time before some nuclear bombs lamd and a return to early agrarianism... That one's for your descendants of course.

After the dinosaurs went the way of themselves, their descendants evolved into birds. I hope humans evolve into something cute for the next intelligent species to enjoy.

The benefit of living in prime farm country. I'm either going out first and not seeing the worst to come as this area is targeted, or I'll survive since I'm in such important space countries will fight to protect

Typically when something militarily strong wants you and money doesn't really have value anymore, you don't do the "survive" part.

Maybe it’s my age bracket and rose colored glasses but I feel that 2015 was a good year. (My personal situation has improved since, but that’s just part of gaining seniority).

Remember all the famous people who died in 2016? They took a good exit.

[–] MotoAsh@piefed.social 4 points 4 weeks ago

2015 was only a good year in relative terms. Of course you might call the moment before you stepped in the biggest pile of dogshit you've ever seen "good times" while you've still got 300 pounds of it stuck to your shoe.

Who died? I stopped keeping track after .....hmmm would it be funnier to say Kurt Cobain (RIP) or James Brown (RIP)?

[–] CompactFlax@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago) (1 children)

Muhammad Ali, Prince, Patty Duke, Edward Albee, Pat Summitt, Gene Wilder, Phyllis Schlafly, David Bowie, Elie Wiesel, Shimon Peres, Nancy Reagan, Arnold Palmer, Harper Lee

A lot of well known people who were influential to millennials and boomers both. Statistically i don’t think it was an oddity but it felt like it and trump was the icing on the cake.

Wow that is a lot. Thank you -- and RIP David Bowie. The others, too, of course. I was thinking Muhammad Ali died circa Bush as potus. Huh. And Elie Wiesel must have been like 90+. Like he was married when he was put in a concentration camp (and his wife was killed there🙁).

[–] jtzl@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 weeks ago

Wow -- only 88!!! That's nuts!

[–] CompactFlax@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I originally thought James Brown was in that year, but he died shortly after I saw him perform in 2005! A great artist, and a horrible human.

Human perception of time is weird.

[–] jtzl@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 weeks ago

Agreed. I didn't realize he died so long ago. Tho I am very envious that you saw him perform live.

They moved to a lower socioeconomic status and switched from a Windows machine to Mac? Is it to say Macs last forever?

[–] Xatolos@reddthat.com 6 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

No, its to say that using Macs lower your socioeconomic status and abilities.

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 2 points 4 weeks ago

By virtue of locking you into their microservices, and locking you out being able to flash their hardware. Economically taxing indeed, the poor couple

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 1 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago) (1 children)

Idk, Mac processing power is a lot more expensive. It’s a laptop. I doubt they’re turning it into some high performance machine.

[–] Xatolos@reddthat.com 1 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Assuming thats the same MacBook, its e-waste right now. Any Mac from 2017 isn't getting any updates anymore, OS or security. Maybe they could get Linux on it, but that's its only chance to get an up to date OS on it.

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 1 points 4 weeks ago

I get the point you’re trying to make, but for most basic users Windows machines are by far more affordable than Apple. If you’re buying a new computer on a tight budget you’re getting Windows.

That's an exposed brick wall. They moved up a tax bracket. Then damaged their lease /s

Ah yes. Historic luxury rental.
