My neck: long, pale, displayed proudly Einstein's neck: obscured by shadow, probably ashamed

Solved a Rubik’s cube? Smarter than me for sure!

If you're smart enough to follow instructions then you're smart enough to solve a Rubik's cube

that's the main reason I can't solve a rubik's cube... I try, but I do not follow any instructions. Always stuck at 3rd layer

Yeah solving it without following any method probably actually requires you to be a genius or something lol

I love the established speedcubing strategies tho, it basically changes it from being a puzzle you’re trying to solve into being similar to a rogue-like video game where you get a new “map” each time. Totally different skillset but also super rewarding in its own way

I've never actively tried to solve one. I've done it a couple of times but it's just from blind fidgeting. I actually broke my first one from use. Actually not true, my first one ever I took apart at 11 years old to see how it worked. Didn't disappoint.

I spent some time in Budapest years ago and bought a sweet ass rubics box or whatever. Locals said dude that invented it was from there? Some dude on the street was making them and back then my American money made me nearly wealthy by exchange so I paid him more than double what he asked and I still felt I was ripping him off. Couldn't believe the intricate work like that for such a small amount of money at the time. Wish I still had that box.

Interesting, I would think that the 3rd layer would be the easiest for beginners. If you ever feel like trying again feel free to pm me :p

Official 3x3 solve guide

It's really not that hard honestly, just memorize a few little algorithms and what situations to use them and it just becomes pattern matching. After a while it becomes muscle memory and you don't even think. Super simulating

You can rip it apart and put it together solved

those stickers peel so easy

Multiple choice powerpoints but it's competitive based on who submits the correct answer fastest typically played at school hosted by the teacher. Under a certain age basically all of us have done a Kahoot.

[–] primalmotion@lemmy.ml 13 points 1 week ago

well fuck. I'm old

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 4 points 1 week ago

If any of my teachers had tried that they would have been burned at the stake for witchcraft.

It’s also popular at offices for team meetings.

my wife spent half an hour yesterday telling me a story about hoots. it wasn't until she finished that i realized she was talking about kahoots.
