Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

WASHINGTON, Jan 27 (Reuters) - The U.S. Border Patrol was involved in a shooting in Arizona on Tuesday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said in a statement, adding that his office was working with the FBI and Customs and Border Protection to look into the incident. NBC News earlier reported, citing a Pima County Sheriff spokeswoman, that a person was in critical condition after being shot in an incident involving the Border Patrol in the county that includes Tucson and is located along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The circumstances of the incident were not immediately clear. The Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The incident comes after the killing of 37-year-old Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse shot multiple times by federal immigration agents on Saturday in Minnesota. Coupled with the fatal shooting of Renee Good, also 37, earlier this month by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer, Pretti's shooting has become a full-blown political crisis for President Donald Trump and sparked renewed anger over the aggressive tactics of the federal agents who have been roving the streets of Minneapolis for weeks. Trump has pursued a hardline immigration agenda since taking office last year and has surged immigration agents into major U.S. cities, where they swept through neighborhoods and clashed with residents.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed

It fucking sucks that youre right. The second one of those assholes gets what they deserve, they will trigger their next level of plans and subjugation. By not retaliating, they make themselves look worse and worse and worse and dig their own graves. This is what it takes to change the minds of the absolute morons that got us here in the first place.

I would choose to emphasize this bit at this time

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed

This article is wild...

The driver of a vehicle was being chased by cbp for giving brown people a ride in his car, stopped and let a bunch of people escape from his car then fled AND ESCAPED(?)

Later(?), cbp ghetto bird found the same exact vehicle being driven by this guy and chased him until he got out of his car and opened fire on the chopper(?)... then the officer in the chopper pursued him on foot(?) when a firefight erupted between the two and guy was shot.

You'll have to forgive me if, due to recent events, I find the credibility of the CBP to be in the negative, especially with such a disconnected story.

Can we have some body cam footage to prove this shooting was justified?

Until then, I'm afraid it was just another federal assault/attempted murder on a US Citizen.

then fled AND ESCAPED(?)

This is why they don't publish the statistics on bank robberies.

So is this a non issue because it wasn't recorded from 4 different angles? Or is the issue here that a Hispanic person was shot so nobody cares?

It didn't happen on a crowded city street with lots of witnesses, so there's nobody coming forward with video showing the victim wasn't shooting. So far, the government is using more careful phrasing, but/and they're still clamping a lid on any further information.

[–] CannonFodder@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Hardly a non-issue. It's being reported all over - but probably just because of the algoryth that pushes stories with similar key words as the current top stories.
But the problem is that we don't have much info on what happened. We know the police / feds will lie even when we have video proof from 10 angle to prove them liars. So what to do when we don't have any independent information?

disarm ICE now

Gonna need footage of this ridiculous scene the CBP painted because they tend to stretch the truth.
