Trump sure seems to be a pedophile and a rapist.

It's so much worse than that too. He likely was either supplying or competing with Epstein. As well a lot of cultural and economic bullshit apparently has Epstein's name on it. The man was pure evil concentrated.

I feel like this is too much of a pattern to be a coincidence. Dump a huge amount of files, there's a few juicy things in there, people crawl all over them. The administration does a poor job covering them, etc. Then we do the same thing a month later. Why not release all of them at once in a flood that takes forever to sift through? Or why not just refuse to release them at all? Why keep doing these little splurges?

[–] joostjakob@lemmy.world 4 points 12 hours ago

Sheer incompetence? Gives them the chance to propaganda away all the separate instances one at a time, rather than having a single huge pile of evidence once?

[–] how_we_burned@lemmy.zip 8 points 16 hours ago

Outside of DoJ actually prosecuting Trump and the others implicated in the file (what does my head in is despite what we've seen so far is the idea that nothing in the files is actionable) what is the point?

The DoJ was able to make a case against Ghislane but no one else? Yeah right.

If the government cannot, will not, prosecute then what is the point of the files? And because it's all underlined with the "some of the accusations are unfounded and invalid" it gives the MAGA sphere the ability to put their cognitive dissonance glasses on and argue it away.

Just like how they argued and denied the mountains of evidence, especially in relation to his sexual assault cases, much of it from the fucker's very mouth, that he was a rapist and paedophile.

We knew this back in 2014-2015 during the campaign that he had raped and sexually assaulted women under the age of 18 in his competitions. We already have strong circumstantial evidence that he raped his daughter. We even have a court of law stating he is a rapist.

Not to to mention the many, many, many women, long before Epstein, all stating Trump had raped them.

At this point who needs these files? And don't give me that if the public know so they don't vote for him.

And this is just the personal matters against Trump. You could write for days the crimes he has wrought against so many people and countries (ie ICE concentration camps for adults and children, invasions, kidnapping Heads of state, missile attacks, bombings, threatening neighbours/allies, destroying global health efforts, destroying institutions, purposefully making millions starve to name a few)

It's everywhere and not just against openly fascist and illegal agents and government officals. Even in blue states state and local law enforcement agencies are refusing to enforce laws (even existing ones) that ICE are not just putting a toe over but who are openly shitting on.

Your system was already semi broken. This whole affair has revealed the wood rot behind the wall.

Decades of civil rights abuses, murder and perniciously aggressive prosecutions against minorities of all backgrounds has shown your is just a pretty a nice to have guidelines. (and even then it's a pretty flawed document)

What should be happening is Schumer and the other conservative liberals (and the progressive socialists) get up, shut down the government and declare a general strike with the until Trump is arrested and his government removed. Including the removal of the corrupt judges in the supreme court.

Words don't cut it anymore.

Someone will have downloaded the doc. Time to spread it wide and far. Trump, meet Streisand, Streisand, Trump...

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So... can someone please explain to me what people hope will happen here? We have known the names of people partying with Epstein for years now. We know that Trump was a pedo just like Epstain, that he was surrounding himself with young girls, bragging about assaulting women. He was convicted of rape in civil court! We know that Melania was Epstein's girlfriend before he handed her to Trump.

Despite this the only thing that happened is that Andrew lost his royal title. No charges, no real punishment. No one else faced any consequences. We know that the deal with Epstein prevents DOJ from charging anyone else in this case. For fuck sake, we knew all this before the elections and Trump still won!

So... once all the papers are out and once we discover who parties with Epstein AGAIN, what do people think will happen?

The hope that enough people are aghast at what happened and stop supporting him leading to shithead Republicans doing their job (only for the purpose of saving their own cowardly hides) and dumping him. This doesn't assume it is standalone- combine rampant pedophilia with a terrible economy. Whatever it takes for the awful, awful people who prop up the Republican party to finally say enough.

Whether that happens..

[–] Aeri@lemmy.world 28 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's pretty interesting to see them do that given the fact that you just know that these files aren't gone.

The official source is gone but a few thousand people probably downloaded that PDF.

[–] scottrepreneur@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

Anyone got a torrent link?

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 14 points 1 day ago

They grabbed the few things that accidentally leaked, which means there's likely a whole lot more stuff that they caught on the first pass.

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

You think that they're just using the press as a free research arm?

DOJ: "Here's the latest batch of the Epstein files!"

Press: "And here's all of the documents that mention Trump."

DOJ: "Cool. They're gone now."

[–] Hawk@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 1 day ago

Aren't Republicans the one's always saying "If you got nothing to hide..."?

This has happened when the first set of files were released, and the second, and now the third.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The fact that they keep saying nothing in the files incriminates Trump is beyond SUS. They were already ordered to redact everything incriminating so I guess they are technically right.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Nothing that they’ll let us see.

[–] kbobabob@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

...for very long, because they are so incompetent

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Fingers crossed

It's unclear what prompted the DOJ to remove the document

That's a lie of Trumpian proportions!🤦

[–] Rhoeri@piefed.world 70 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Wait… there’s people that are surprised by this? Where have these people been for the last year or so?

[–] GreenCrunch@piefed.blahaj.zone 51 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Year or two? 2016 was ten years ago.

This is over a decade.

Fucking hell. That's such a significant fraction of my life.

[–] Rhoeri@piefed.world 16 points 1 day ago (3 children)

The Epstein files releases have only been the last year or so is what I meant.

[–] partofthevoice@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago

I explicitly remember, in 2015/16, sharing the “dropped court case documents” regarding trumps rape of a 13 year old.

[–] flowers_galore2@lemmynsfw.com 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Ha but the FBI has known about this for, what, 30 years now?

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 1 day ago

Epstein's first big run-in with the law was in 2008, and he was well-known before that. A lot of us have been following him for decades.

[–] RichardDegenne@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

Holy shit, that made me feel old

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Its been a coverup since day one in 2016

[–] 6stringringer@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

“No way. I’m sure the whole thing was just some typo. We apologize for that boo boo. Kinda uh oh’d that one didn’t we? Someone took casual Friday a little too far down at the cover up office. I bet they were Seahawks fans wearing jeans while observing casual Friday. Look here people, just b/c U can dress down, it doesn’t mean that you have to. Please have some self respect and be miserable with the rest of us.” -Some random Goddamn Evangelical Tech Bro Dept. Mgr that is about to be laid off based upon his virtuosity in incompetence. (I’m a total cis male or whatever they call a mostly straight fella so not a gender shaming thing. Please substitute another gender if the situation seems more personally applicable.) I don’t honestly mind presenting a wider scope to be more inclusive. Probably sounding performative huh? I’m just gonna stfu & bid adieu. G’night ya’ll.
