This person is an another example of a Trump supporter that had their brain broken by the Epstein cover-up last summer in light of the recent release. They have immediately gone from Trump is in the files to Biden and Obama are actually the ring leaders and Pizza gate Hillary Clinton‘s emails, and Hunter Biden‘s laptop are actually the real problem and the real masterminds behind everything.

While I can’t 100% say that Pizza gate is or isn’t real, or is connected to the Epstein files, this person just keeps hammering it in to me that this is the truth.

I'm starting to believe that the pizza gate stuff, QAnon, and the "trans are groomers" rhetoric were all planted in public just to muddy the waters around Epstein; to confuse people. That seems exactly what happened to this person.

...... I'm just insanely disappointed in the united states as a whole, because I don't understand how anyone can be "confused" here, and yet I personally know people (and believe we all know someone) this describes perfectly.

Their thinking goes something like this:

There are only two kinds of people: Bad People and Good People.

Good people can’t do bad things, only good things (so if they do a ‘bad thing’ it was obviously just an innocent mistake because they’re Good People).

Bad People can never do good things, only bad things (so if they do a ‘good thing’ it was obviously just to further some sinister agenda).

It’s nearly impossible for a Bad Person to become a Good Person, because Bad is something you are, not something you do. It’s basically genetic that they’ll always feel the urge to do Bad. Only a Higher Power like God has the power to ‘save’ a Bad Person, they can never become Good on their own.

I am a Good Person.

Since I am a Good Person, I can only do good. And I only interact with Good People, and support Good People in politics/whatever because interacting with and supporting Bad People is bad, and I don’t do bad things.

Those people I hang out with said that group over there is Bad. Since they’re Good People (because I interact with them) what they say must be true.

The problem with Epstein is he short-circuits this exceptionalism-tribalism sort of thinking, for two reasons.

First, because he hung out with what they consider ‘Good People’ (which they define as rich white males generally, and people they’ve supported in the past—remember, they only support Good People, because they’re not Bad). But Epstein was so vile, his acts so vile, and the ‘Good People’ so happy to participate, that their brains can’t square the circle of Good Person knowingly and enthusiastically and repeatedly doing Bad Things.

And second, because the vile things he did have been harped on by all the ‘Good People’ they know as being Evil and Vile since way, way before any of this Epstein stuff was even hinted at, so they have a harder time just sweeping it under the mental rug with a ‘they didn’t know!’ or ‘they didn’t mean it!’

Yes my thoughts exactly too. I wanna say that to him but I know he will just snap at me and I don’t need that shit. Like with most people I’m around I just observe and watch them come to there own conclusions good or bad.

Can I ask why do you engage with them on this at all? You can ask them to stop sending you messages that are not work related.

“With all due respect this is all batshit crazy and Trump is the ring leader. Please don’t send me non-work related items any more. Thanks.”

The issue is in your statement “while I can’t say pizza gate is or isn’t 100% real”. Any sane person LITERALLY ANY SANE PERSON with half a braincell knows it is untrue.

Cult living in alternate reality their propagandists make up and don’t have a single independent thought

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 5 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Yes exactly. As another example of his thought process, he was a big supporter of Israel and what they were doing to the Palestinians after Trump was elected he came to the conclusion that Israel is bad for what they are doing, but now he has gone to the extreme of all Jewish people are bad and need to be killed and Hitler was right for the holocaust.

Not sure what your job or relation to the person is (besides just coworker), but if you have one, I'd talk to HR about hate speech and possibly harassment. Certainly not worth a police report, but maybe if their boss comes at them with a "chill tf out with that shit" then maybe they'll shut up at least. The 'Hitler was right to kill Jews' part especially.

Edit: Or just post photos of the messages to Facebook and let the crowd roast him over an open fire.

Funny thing is our boss is in the same mental boat as him. Pretty much 99% of the work force here is severely brain broken. When I was 17, I was diagnosed with a mental disorder and severe depression, in hindsight looking back. I’m pretty sure I was fairly normal compared to these people.

[–] IntrovertTurtle@lemmy.zip 4 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Fuck man similar to me. Job/boss is great (most of our staff has been complaining about Trump since I started here), but my family is conservative Christian MAGA types, at least most of the ones before my generation.

I feel for you my guy.

Thanks bro, respect to you too. We are all in this together and we will get through this together.

So trump covering up the Epstein files in plain view is what convinced them he is innocent? I'm starting to think that severe mental illness exists in like 75% of people.
