“I haven’t seen Mexico since I was four,” Ceballos said. “I don’t speak Spanish anymore. If I get deported, it would wreck my life.”

If I get deported, it would wreck my life.

He was all for it when it was wrecking someone else's life.

[–] robocall@lemmy.world 34 points 6 days ago (2 children)

He should go to Mexico and get a decent education because the US clearly did not teach him some basic ass fundamentals in civics and general comprehension.

The SS went after the original Hitler loyalists first

A little-known fact is that Hitler's purge of Ernst Roehm and other brownshirts acquired the name "Night of the Long Knives" because Hitler used the phrase (which dates to medieval times) to describe what Roehm allegedly had planned for Hitler in a speech shortly after the event. Hitler never intended his own actions to be called that.

I do not understand the cult of personality around Donald Trump he's the least appealing looking human who has ever existed, surely they could have found a more attractive cult leader. Most cults do.

Also how do you manage to get into politics and simultaneously be completely politically inept? You just get a free pass in the US if you just turn up?

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 28 points 6 days ago (2 children)

That's what gets me too. America has always been in a weird place where they blindly worship everyone famous. And they treat politics like a sport. So it's not surprising that some guy rolls around selling them monorails. But i expected that guy to look like george Clooney and the charisma or Vince McMahon or something.

But instead they get ripped off by the dumbest, absolutely vile looking and provably smelling human being i couldn't even imagine. He looks and acts like someone that a scientist had to invent in a lab. He is the villain from an Austin powers movie.

I think the US is so morally and socially bankrupt that a large percentage of the population basically worships money and by extension the people that have it. So trump being a literal slug man with no humanity but mega rich is a great example of how this works.

He's the weak man's idea of a strong man, and the dumb man's idea of a smart man.

The sheer stupidity of this guy. He wants position, image and power, at the expense of (checking notes), people just like him.

After 50 years on a green card, he never applied for citizenship?!

[–] robocall@lemmy.world 11 points 6 days ago (5 children)

I guess this question supports the theory that he never knew the difference between the two.

It's depressing to think someone could be so misinformed.

[–] Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip 12 points 6 days ago

Apparently he's been illegally voting the whole time, so it never made a difference to him.

Ceballos also acknowledged that he “probably” voted for Kobach and former president Donald Trump several times because he automatically selects the candidates with an “R” beside their names.

Absolute fucking numpty here.

ENJOY EL SALVADOR, BITCH! May the leopards leave a clean, smiling skull.

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 10 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

The problem is that a 54-year old Kansas mayor is somehow technically not a citizen, after living here for decades.

That makes no sense.

He shouldn't have voted, and should have known not to, but he didn't expect this because he's stuck in a system that's been screwed up for decades. One that Congress won't reform precisely to leverage it as a wedge issue like this. And now that debt has come due.

[–] elleplaster@sopuli.xyz 14 points 6 days ago (2 children)

How did he get a ballot if he's not eligible to vote? At least in my state, you have to sign the voter register that has your name pre-printed. I suppose Kansas is different.

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 11 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Right, that’s what these crazies always forget - register to vote is where your eligibility to vote should be verified, and there are ways to do that without suppressing votes

Interesting, apparently it’s only since 1996 that non-citizens voting became a crime, and that only applies to federal elections …. Then there’s whatever citizenship law Kansas tried to pass was ruled unconstitutional

Historically people in his situation were treated like human beings and immigration enforcement of a contributing member of society was civil, compassionate, and had due process routes to legality or at least to transitioning your life without hardship

So this guy was not committing a crime assuming he registered to vote more than 30 years ago, the state failed in their duty to check eligibility, and he might still be able to legitimately vote for himself

[–] robocall@lemmy.world 9 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I suspect he registered to vote, and for whatever reason, the county/state failed to discover that he's not a citizen and approved his registration.

[–] Xella@lemmy.world 13 points 6 days ago

This seems to be the exact scenario that MAGA is screaming over. Lol every accusation is an admission.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 14 points 6 days ago

Obviously you didn't love trump enough.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 10 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I read the comments. Its hard to spot but you can just make out the republicans. /s

I know you’re a democrat and thus don’t care about holding dems to account, but don’t think that republicans are equally lawless.

[–] Beero@lemmy.world 10 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (2 children)

Fuckin ridiculous trash, Dems are the only ones who resign in shame after almost any scandal. Republicans have no shame it's why they never resign after a scandal, unless they're caught with a dead girl or a live boy.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 8 points 6 days ago

Only time Republicans resign is when they see the shit heading for the fan, and they step out of the way to stay out of the spray.

Which is why you see so many Republicans quitting leading up to the midterms.
