Via NBC:

Amanda Robbins is angry about the war with Iran. She’s angry about the price of gas.

But mostly, the 35-year-old resident of Millersburg, Pennsylvania, is mad at herself for backing President Donald Trump at the ballot box. Not once, not twice. “Three times,” Robbins said while she fueled up at the Penn Jersey Mart here.

“That was my bad. Apparently, I’m an idiot.” Robbins was so fed up that she used an expletive to describe the president: “a worthless pile of s---.”

Nah shes worse than an idiot. Genuine ghoul. The fact that her opinion is only changed by the price of gas and world destabilising war.

[–] WesternInfidels@feddit.online 108 points 3 days ago

At least her opinion was changeable. By something. For many, that's not the case.

It's been 11 years since our president announced he was running for office. She would have been about 24. It's possible that the biggest thing that changed is: she grew up a little.

[–] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 19 points 2 days ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I watched the video. The article is very short and only picks up on the best soundbite.

They interviewed people at a gas station while they're filling up. Of course it was mainly about gas prices. The interviewer then says "they also talked about the war and she was against that too".

Asked what she thinks about The Don rn, she turns to the camera and says the above quote. And that's all we have.

Compared to the three other people who mindlessly support everything Trump throws at them, I am willing to bring this one back into the fold.

[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz 3 points 2 days ago

Thank you for adding the additional context. I would but she'd have to be a lot more humble.

[–] Absinthe3858@lemmy.world 31 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Idk. Maybe not a ghoul. think she can be angry about both at the same time. People voted for him with the expectation that he would lower prices and decrease America's involvement in foreign affairs. He duped a lot of the country and they fell for it. People who were struggling economically are still struggling. It doesn't help that many parts of our country necessitate cars.

[–] West_of_West@piefed.social 61 points 3 days ago (4 children)

As an outsider, I can excuse the 2016 vote because I recognize that people were angry at the system. But the subsequent votes are inexcusable, Trump's goals and methods were apparent from the get go.

[–] lobut@lemmy.ca 21 points 2 days ago

I mean the fact that people seemed to have forgiven January 6th is something I'll never be able to understand.

Correct. And every single one of those millions of people are idiotic ghouls.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 13 points 3 days ago

There is a path to redemption, and she is at least thinking about taking it.

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 3 days ago

People should be able to change.

[–] Clent@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yes and fuck anyone who says otherwise. The pedophile stuff didn't matter. The immigration stiff didn't matter. It was only when it financial stung her. The feeling will probably fade.

People need to spend more time interacting with these deplorables before forgiving them for expressing a bit of doubt.

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

Im in 2 minds about this kind of thinking. Its impossible to know which one it is.

In the back of my mind I'm always aware that anything I see through a screen isnt necessarily reflective of reality. Until I see it for myself I can't guarantee something is really happening.

If you tell me my hero is a child-raping murderous piece of shit I'll struggle to believe it because that's my hero. If youre the bad guy telling me my hero is bad, I'll double not believe it. Its just possible that for many people, eggs and petrol are the first actual consequences theyre actually seeing.

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 days ago

yep. clear.

she calls him a "worthless pile of shit" (unless my memory of the past 20 seconds has already failed me)

assuming that she is presented in the correct context here, she's saying that because of the price of gas. all the other shit didn't do that, but this did.

again that's assuming that she is presented in the correct context

[–] UpperBroccoli@lemmy.blahaj.zone 40 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Yeah, killing brown people is okay for me, but when it affects me, when I have to pay more for gas? Well that's just un-fucking-accceptable!

[–] areakode@riskeratspizza.com 9 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Elon Musk stated that "the fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy".

Look who is using emotion to hold back progress... /s

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Sounds like somebody needs some empathy upside the back of the head.

[–] areakode@riskeratspizza.com 2 points 2 days ago

Some empathy at 3000 fps aught to do it.

[–] traxex@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 days ago

Like, unironically yes this. And they will say it out loud too. Have been in many arguments and you can literally boil most of it down to “it doesn’t affect me? I don’t care” for the majority of people. Selfishness at an insane level.

[–] TommySoda@lemmy.world 73 points 3 days ago (3 children)

I'd still rather have people that realized this than have them still be part of the cult. Of course she's an idiot and I hate her very much for her choice. But literally nothing I can say or do will change the past and bitching about what could have been is pointless.

[–] Darnton@piefed.zip 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Considering it was only at this point and because of rising gas prices directly affecting her, I don't really think she has learnt much. She has been willing to accept and in fact endorse an insane amount of psychopatic hateful stupidity up until that point, which I very much suspect she doesn't regret at all.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 days ago

Oh, she's still part of the cult. No way she doesn't continue voting R.

At best she sits an election cycle out

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago

Nah. She will vote for him again. Just watch.

[–] Nalivai@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

“That was my bad. Apparently, I’m an idiot.” Robbins was so fed up that she used an expletive to describe the president: “a worthless pile of shit. I'm gonna vote for him again though, and if not him, then the closest republican I can find”, added Robins, while black bile was dripping down her forehead.

[–] TaterTurnipTulip@lemmy.world 29 points 2 days ago (2 children)

When I see people make statements like this, I tend to disregard what they're saying. If you aren't taking concrete actions to help then your words aren't worth a damn. People can change, sure, but words are not enough.

I doubt she actually recognizes the error of her ways and starts helping affected communities. But if she does, there is a path to redemption that way.

Until then, yes, you're an idiot. Show us you can be something more than that, if you can.

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Partial progress always good to recognize and encourage. Can't never hurt nothin that way no how.

[–] traxex@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago

Absolutely. She won’t take any further action either. These people fundamentally only care about themselves. You can even tell by her statements. The first thing she says is she is an idiot, and not the fact the president is a fucking war mongering pedophile. It’s all about her and that’s it.

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 12 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

She is obviously some kinda professional, and I don't trust her judgement if she voted for a fucking pedo 3 times. Glad she finally saw the light, but this picture is not a good look.

Don't fucking glow about making a bad decision multiple times!

[–] SippyCup@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

Raping children? Ok.

Rounding up random brown people and sending them to overseas concentration camps? Perfectly fine with it.

Gas is slightly more expensive? THAT'S THE FUCKING LINE

[–] BigMacHole@thelemmy.club 39 points 2 days ago

You HAVE to Understand! She ONLY thought that Trump: Would hurt IMMIGRANT Children! Hurt TRANS Children! Hurt GAY Children! RAPE little Girls! Raise Gas Prices ONCE! Raise HER prices ONCE! PROTECT Pedophiles! And PROTECT Billionaires! She had NO IDEA he would Raise gas prices a SECOND time! That's an HONEST American mistake!

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 48 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Prime example; leopard eating face. It's only inconvenient when it affects THEM... and in this case, the most trivial way... selfish bitch. I hope it affects her in MORE ways soon enough and at this rate, I have no doubt it will.

Have the life you voted for, cunt.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 40 points 3 days ago

The problem is that we're all getting what she voted for.

I'd say better late than never but who knows?

[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 24 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I mean, lady... there's no "apparently" about it.

Apology not accepted. You screwed us all because you are a horrible person and wanted to watch others suffer. I hope you suffer mightily.

[–] Beacon@fedia.io 8 points 3 days ago (2 children)

It's not that i directly want her to suffer, it's that i want ALL people to be subjected to the things they chose to have subjected onto other people. Basic golden rule stuff. If she chose to be fine with innocent people having their lives fucked up, then i hope the same is returned to her in equal measure.

typical conservative. no empathy, only cares when it effects them directly.

[–] Jake_Farm@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 days ago

The depressing fact is, that this how the majority of people think.

[–] Uranus_Hz@lemmy.zip 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If only people had told you so before the election

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 days ago

The problem is it was the dirty libs telling her. Theyre the baddies.

Facts dont care about feelings and the fact is theyre the baddies and therefore anything they say must be a lie. Fact.

[–] lemmie689@lemmy.sdf.org 14 points 3 days ago
[–] rabber@lemmy.ca 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

She's not just an idiot, but a bad person.

Clearly.

Everyone has said all of things already but I’ll point out that she could have taken any photo of her choosing and she posed like that.

She enjoys the pump. Just look at her PUMP tshirt.

[–] bladerunnerspider@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

35? Yikes, must be something in the Pennsylvania water

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Why is she now have this photo shot? Also after I saw the news cast thought she was in her 60's. Holy hell Mega ages you badly.

But again why this pic? Is she suddenly getting rewarded by being stupid?

[–] darkdemize@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's what hate does to you. Last I checked, Leavitt was under 30, but you couldn't tell by looking. Hell, Miller is younger than I am and looks like he could be my grandfather.
