Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

“I will tear down your corrupt system, even if it’s the last thing I do in my life. I will go all the way—I am not afraid,” she wrote to the First Lady on X. “Maybe you should be afraid of what I know… of who you are, and who your husband is.”

What.

The fuck.

Are you waiting for?

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 84 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

The person who didn't care to turn them in at any other point in their life obviously isn't in it for any reason other than themself.

She's waiting for a payout.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If it's true information, the motive for disclosing it doesn't matter.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

The delay is discouraging because it means either she's open to payoff to disclose it, or her information isn't really novel or useful and she's just teasing it out like a marketing campaign instead of trying to do real damage because she's got nothing.

[–] TheGoldenV@lemmy.world 58 points 1 week ago

To be tossed off a balcony before anything of use happens?

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 33 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

She recorded an interview with El Pais that is supposed to be released any minute now.

Edit: Apparently it’s dropping Sunday morning (Spain time)

Edit 2: here it is: https://lemmy.world/post/45494860

[–] Trilogy3452@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Doesn't sound to me like she gave any new details

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 week ago

What's there is mainly a puff piece with some murky details (like how she was trafficked by Epstein and Brunel) and some unresolved qustions (how Zampolli was able to obtain Grenadan diplomatic status for himself and Ungaro). There's also a big question about how or whether Zampolli was involved in the same kind of trafficking as Epstein and Brunel, since appears to have been on cordial terms with both.

And there's still no indication of what Ungaro knows or doesn't know.

[–] thesushicat@lemmy.world 23 points 1 week ago

For real. Please do the world a favor and say what you know!

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

Need to get her book deal.

What? Its how people in those circles think.

[–] TwilitSky@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Payout. Everyone's in it for # 1.

[–] Avicenna@programming.dev 4 points 1 week ago

I think for anyone to say this and then not take any legal action should be considered illegal on the same level as aiding and abetting criminals. But then again this is the new normal in the timeline we live where president of the US can boast about destroying a whole civilization.

[–] Hegar@fedia.io 75 points 1 week ago (3 children)

“Are you already aware of the situation?” [Ungaro tweeted @ pam bondi]. “Do you fully understand the extent of the information I possess regarding you and the individuals associated with you? I strongly advise you to consider the seriousness of these matters. Any actions taken against me or attempts to escalate this situation could have significant legal consequences,”

This is the brazillian "model" who was deported at the personal request of her ex husband and father of her child, Paolo Zampolli.

He is one of trump's closest friends, was close with diddy, worked with epstein, was a "modelling" agency director and obvious sex trafficker. He was the one who procured melania and trafficked her to trump.

Ungaro is obviously referring to her knowledge of her husband's role in the wider trump-epstein trafficking ring. Her perspective probably sheds a lot of light on melania's role.

[–] drzoidberg@lemmy.world 35 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Scumbags always turn on each other. God I wish they'd all just form a suicide pact and be done with it so the rest of the world can move on.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Best start digging 80 million graves.

[–] drzoidberg@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Nah, just catapult them into the ocean.

More likely to be a circular firing squad with narcissists like these. Similar results at least.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 16 points 1 week ago

On Melania's role this bit stands out:

“Something was clearly wrong, but I am not part of any evil mission involving children. So what did you do, Melania? You tried to involve me, but you failed — because I have character.”

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Which means she’s in grave danger.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 59 points 1 week ago (1 children)

“How are you?” Melania writes to Maxwell in an October 2022 email. “Nice story about JE in NY mag. You look great on the picture. I know you are very busy flying all over the world. How was Palm Beach? I cannot wait to go down. Give me a call when you are back in NY. Have a great time! Love, Melania”

[–] Goodlucksil@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 1 week ago (2 children)

This reads like a school writing I would do.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'll give her a break on that since English isn't her first language. Having said that, she is a horrible human and I'm embarrassed that she and her husband are in the white house.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago

My wife started learning English at 14. At that point, she already spoke and write two other languages. She has a slight accent (rolls her R's a bit) but is more fluent than most native speakers-- doing advanced degrees at top-tier UK universities forces you to write and speak well. I ask her to edit my writing when it's something important. Her father, who was a well-off businessman with no formal education beyond secondary school, learned English by watching action movies. He was far more fluent than Melanoma.

I'll just throw in the name of two other people for whom English was a second language: Joseph Conrad and Vladimir Nabokov.

Now I don't expect some second-rate Slovene fashion model to be as brilliant as those two, but she's either a particularly slow learner at language acquisition, or never made the effort. Possibly both.

And she married a rapist of children, a liar, a fraudster and a piece of shit. She knew what she was signing up for.

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You write about JE in school?

So, this woman and her partner knew the Trumps and the Epsteins all along. She has a falling out with her partner and it appears her partner used his relationship to the Trumps to get her deported by ICE. Now that this woman is personally impacted she wants to tell all.

[–] orbitz@lemmy.ca 24 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yes apparently rich assholes congregate so when one slights another then we (the plebs) hear the incriminating details because they were personally impacted, but never earlier. Whoever came out is no hero but hopefully their story is heard.

Do we not see how this caste system sucks? It's not exactly untouchables like some castes but it's a caste system. We are their fodder, the (few) rich get power.

Now I am not advocating violence but numbers should show who has real power in the world. 3500 billionaires and 8.5 billion people, can't we make it better for the 8.5 billion rather than the 3500?

[–] Trilogy3452@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

She's claiming she was abused so this might be different: https://lemmy.world/post/45494860

[–] notabot@piefed.social 48 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I hope she's made the necessary arrangements to distribute the information she has in the event anything "unfortunate" happens to her, she's painted quite a target on her back with these threats.

[–] RaoulDuke25@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 1 week ago

She's not exactly smart.

[–] tempest@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 week ago

Didn't Trump's first wife "fall down the stairs" or some shit

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Dead man's switches for defensive blackmail are a common plot device in crime novels, but in real life, they're vanishingly rare.

So the pedophiles’ wife is trying to get in front of the story. However by doing so, she has drawn attention to the story, and has already been caught in a blatant lie. It’s a bold strategy, Cotton.

[–] Monte_Crisco@thelemmy.club 8 points 1 week ago

I think her being generally quiet and inconspicuous over the past decade was sometimes perceived as savviness with a tiny element of shrewdness to avoid getting involved with Trump’s bs. But this moment reminds us that, no, she’s probably just not very bright.

[–] friend_of_satan@lemmy.world 41 points 1 week ago

The individuals lying about me are devoid of ethical standards, humility, and respect,” she began.

It's ok, Melania. Your husband lies about everybody.

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 26 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Side note: I am gonna laugh so hard if orangeboi deports Melania

[–] Neon_Carnivore@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago

"I am bigly proud to announce that Melania Trump will be taking up a prestigious position in the Shield of America initiative alongside the very brave Kristi Noem and Pam Bondi."

[–] islandcoda42@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 week ago

Amanda is doing an interview on CNN tomorrow. Hope she is somewhere safe today

[–] I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Yes, 100% yes.

This is the only theory that takes into account the absolutely insane ego's of privileged, elite, white women.

And I know what most of you are immediately thinking. You're thinking you've seen the type come through Starbucks acting all entitled; but that's not it. We're talking about a class of people who wouldn't be caught dead in a Starbucks, and no, they don't go to more upscale coffee shops either. Those, too, are for the "poors". We are talking about the class of people that get their coffee from the attendant at their private, gated, clubs. That is where they spend all their time. They live in a complete bubble, entirely separated from society. They don't get alternative news, they don't get news period.

I can guarantee the reason Melania made that statement wasn't because of some upcoming leak, or that she was worried about being named, or anything of the sort. It's because her fellow privileged friends in her circle started talking about her. Snide comments about where she came from. Imagine the most popular girl in school making a school announcement that she totally didn't sleep with Bobby Flemming and the only ones making such accusations are jealous whores, where it's clear the only ones she's really addressing is her own social circle that has been making comments about her. That's the level of vanity we are talking about. She doesn't give a shit what people are saying online, but now that her friends are starting to make comments, well now it's something worth addressing.

Thanks for the effort, but not working any longer, alas.

Here's a screenshot of the archived tweet, if that helps:

Many thanks!
