MODERATORS

If you've never tried Nebula before, here are some one-week guest passes you can use.

Nebula is an ad-free streaming platform that focuses on quality, with a curated set of creators, and original content. It's a decent alternative to YouTube, and although their list of creators is still small, some of your favourite YouTubers might already be there, like Tom Scott, Captain Disillusion, Philosophy Tube, Legal Eagle, Becky Stern, Man Carrying Thing, and more.

Here are the codes. One per person, please. Visit https://nebula.tv/redeem to sign up and redeem.

Replace DASH with a hyphen.

Update: These codes are taken, there are more from good people in the comments!

  • Code A
    ~~ad9a93ab-920f-4bea-9ef4 DASH 7cb203e59a98~~
  • Code B
    ~~0118d334-d6b4-4c91-a5d7 DASH 6b1af25d7f87~~
  • Code C
    ~~65a0c52a-9a45-44b8-81fe DASH 14918a17aa09~~

I get three of these every month, so I'll post them here when they renew, unless a mod tells me not to. Just trying to help people find alternatives to YouTube (and Google).

I had no idea this was a feature of a Nebula Subscription! If there's anyone else interested, here's another guest pass code:

f69b9866-b2d8-4472-aedf DASH 70d3463cce40

Same formatting as everyone else: remove the spaces around the word "DASH" and replace it with a "-" (no quotation marks).

I subscribe to it but I don't find enough content on it that keeps me coming back. Do you mind sharing the channels you like watching?

Honestly, a lot of it is what I used to watch on YouTube. Pretty much anything from Sam @ Wendover Productions (including Half as Interesting, Jet Lag, and some of his Nebula exclusive series such as Extremities), Practical Engineering, Pinely, Chubbyemu, Bright Sun Films/Travels, stuff like that. Day Pass is an exclusive that comes to mind.

Sometimes Nebula uploads have extras even if they upload to both YT and Nebula. I like Nebula because it allows me to get away from Google while still supporting the creators I like from there. It's pretty cheap, all things considered.

I do the same with William Osman's Sauce+ (based on floatplane but for engineer creators).

Thank you I was literally just looking for one following a Philosophy Tube episode I watched the other day!! 😊 any tips for discovering channels?

[–] brianpeiris@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Nice! You can definitely just browse through each category to get a sense of which creators are on there, it's not a huge list. In the "Explore" screen, click on "Channels" first, then browse through the categories to see creators in each category. The "Latest activity" sort is also good to find active creators. For example: https://nebula.tv/explore/channels?category=gaming&sort=lastUpdated&order=desc

For videos, it might be worth filtering by "Original" and "Plus" if you're looking for higher quality content. Many of the channels have lot of older archived content, which is worth going through if you've found a creator you like. Though I mostly just check the "Everything" category for new videos to discover creators.

And of course their homepage is updated regularly with featured creators and categories.

How do you get codes? I can send 3 people a guest pass by email(just DM me)

Also, check your local library, mine have binge passes via hoopla for nebula and curiosity among others

Edit: nvm hoopla no longer includes nebula passes

Figured out how to get the codes:

You can just email them to yourself to get the code for sharing.

Heads up - I used code - bd1464ff-cca7-4b7e-9777-80c9ca971676

[–] JakenVeina@midwest.social 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I'll throw mine in too, why not?

Nebula's nice. I don't see it ever replacing YouTube, unless they decide to actually startbadding community-oriented features, but it's still nice to put as much of my traffic as I can towards other platforms.

[–] Faux@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Nebula purged content creators that refused respecting both sides of the Palestinian struggle against Zionist entity. Fuck this filth.

[–] brianpeiris@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Well, one counter point. I just searched their videos and found this video from 2026 (that I had already watched, because I do support Palestine). So I wonder if Nebula changed their stance. https://nebula.tv/videos/additionalilyalexandre-life-in-gaza-in-2026-a-chat-with-ahmed-mater Same video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhgpXjGYRNk

[–] Faux@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 week ago

There is a difference between condemning very recent actions of the zionist regime and condemning the very existence of Israel. Plenty of liberals condemn the current phase of the genocide while calling for respecting "Israel's right to exist" at the same time.

[–] brianpeiris@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago

Hmm. I'll have to look into this. Thanks for pointing it out. If you happen to have links to more info, please share.
