American culture makes me want to vomit.

Or the most infuriating new trend is they just take a classic song, presumably they are paying the original artist or getting permission, but then they just put new shittier lyrics over a song that is already beloved.

Oh did you like this soul music classic?

Robust, looks like you got all the best hits

I have some old Glenn Campbell and George Straight records. Lots of good country music so long as you steer clear of the algorithmic stadium country that's everywhere. There are even really good modern country artists like Sturgill Simpson.

Country aint for everyone, but if you enjoy any amount of variance there is probably some country out there youd like.

Country as a genre is pretty low on my list, but Charley fucking Crockett? Drive by? Thats some decent current country.

Obvs Cash is the height of the past, his last few cover albums are a great way to ease into the genre.

The only country song I ever want to hear is called Death to America

[–] peteypete420@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 days ago

Who sings that one? Thats not Cash is it?

Dude I literally came in to mention Charley. I've only listened to Age of the Ram but when I'm in the mood I'll check out the rest.

I got into him while the "man from waco" album was new. What a fucking banger of an album. Im working my way thro his discography now.

Ive been to see him live, he might be one of the best singers iv seen live. Sorry Ozzy.

Tyler Childers is pretty good

Sturgill Simpson as well. I'd throw in Billy Strings too, though he's more bluegrass/jamgrass than outlaw country. But yeah there's a lot of good musicians that are the antithesis of modern stadium country.

A song I just got hooked on from him is biting list. Such a good way to tell someone to fudge off.
