Says the guy who runs a church that has it's own country.

Seal team 6 on their way to the Vatican

As a child of Catholicism, it pains me that the Catholic church, a repressive religion (like the majority of religions - I'm not taking sides here) is more progressive than the supposed "leader of the free world"

I wonder if the jeebus ever have anything to say about the rich?

Boil them, mash them, stick them through the eye of a needle?

Seriously folks, tossing aside potential liberation theology allies is not praxis.

This.

A lot of people tend to misunderstand Marx when he said "religion is the opiate of the masses".

When wielded by Antichrists, debauched degenerates and sociopaths - as the clergy of old or the new barons- it can be used as a weapon to subvert the people, to bring them to the sin of hatred for your fellow humans - which goes against the teachings of Christ.

But as we find in all religion, there isn't one that goes against welfare - and especially not Christianity. Jesus was in the streets, feeding the poor, healing the sick and washing the feet of a sex worker.

Also, he was not killed by the Jews - but by imperialists. This alone should be the canary in the coal mine for the average Christian. The average doom sayer, fear mongerer and hate spreader defiles the teaching of Christ.

As Jesus said upon that cross: "forgive them, Lord - for they know not why they sin." Well we know now, and the bible outlines who the Antichrists are - and they all wear fancy suits and have big bespoke Bibles.

To sin, from old Orthodox Greek, which the bible was written is defined as "missing the mark". I.e doing something wrong. Christians who support imperialism are sinners. They could have just as easily been the ones who mounted Christ on that cross.

The one thing oligarchs and elites of the west fear the most is losing control of the theological narrative - for if people took to Christ's teaching again, they'd find these people to be the golden calf Abraham warned against.

We're due for a new reformation. A reformation of the people.

And Trump thought he was targeted before…

I'd bet a lot that the Catholic Church has more wealth than Elon and Bezos combined.

e: Tax the fuck out of the whole lot, churches and obscenely rich individuals.

I mean, he does realize that he's the head of the ultimate "rich"?

[–] TheTechnician27@lemmy.world 14 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago) (1 children)

(Actually, purely that can be calculated and speaking of religious organizations, that's the Mormon church. We're not entirely sure about the Catholic Church; estimate ranges are massive. Plausibly the Catholic Church, though, when considering what we don't know. It's mainly a real estate thing with them.)

There is a whole sub-plot in the show "the expanse" where the mormom church is basically a hedge fund and they build their own colony ship to fly off into space. Great show.

[–] PolarKraken@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 5 hours ago

Seriously great show. Hilariously the Mormon bits require probably the least "suspension of disbelief" among the whole shebang lol.

[–] 0li0li@lemmy.world 8 points 9 hours ago

Takes one to know one.

The irony sickens me. Genuinely. Religion has been a maiming, murdering tool of manipulation since its institutional invention. This is just business as usual for these pathological leeches.

Fuck you, Popie, and the millions of pedos you're hiding under that dress.

The thing about irony is that at must apply to two parties.

So you agree that it applies to the pope… But who else does this commentary apply to…?

Who else do you realize falls under the umbrella of all of this bullshit?

Who else is a monumental piece of shit?

Who else is in an unscrupulous position of power right now?

Other than your bitch of a mom?
