Quickest way to get a concussion in rugby is to piss off the other team

Rugby, for those wondering. It's like American Handegg, but exciting, and players don't wear shitloads of armour.

They also don't stop every 30 seconds for an ad break. I don't get what people enjoy about American football.

[–] bhamlin@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

The ad breaks.

I had more fun watching the women's rugby 7s at the Olympics than I ever did watching American football or soccer. I wish they showed it over here more often.

I spent $100 and watched the men’s rugby finals from the 50 yard line front row, including a vip area with catered food about 5 years ago. Could not believe tickets were so cheap for something that was so much fun to watch.

Violence is NEVER the answer. However most people receiving said violence were not asking any questions anyway.

[–] CIA_chatbot@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago (1 children)

History says otherwise. Violence is the answer at least 99.98% of the time

[–] lovely_reader@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Surprisingly, that's not the case! Violence is the answer something like 25% of the time, nonviolence like 50% of the time, and I guess the rest of the time the answer is to sit there and take it (source: Harvard research by Erica Chenowith). I bet the stats are very different for rugby though

[–] CIA_chatbot@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Pretty sure rugby is 134% violence

[–] bagsy@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

Violence is the only language some people understand.

Green shirt tried to do it without violence and blue shirt stupidly tried to fight about it. Some people choose violence and need to be shown it's a bad choice to make.

Video ends too soon. I needed more writhing in agony.
