And I will repeat it again:

Religion is a mental illness, and it is the largest reason why we can't have nice things in this world. I want all religions gone, prohibited.

If I say that I have a personal relationship with goobagooba, this super best friend in my head who tells me things, I get medications that fixes that problem. If I say the same about jesus, suddenly I can start a church, WTF? Somehow mental illness is not an illness when a religious name is invoked? To me that is as insane a situation as us allowing billionaires to get even more money.

What this headline should read is "Province leader is schizophrenic and in need of medication, or is lying her ass off" because THAT would be an honest headline.

There is no god, at least not as far as we can tell. We've looked for him high, we looked for him low, we looked for him in quantum mechanics, we've looked for him in the stars, there is no god to be found anywhere. That sounds harsh, but at least its a truth in a world where lies rule the world. There are no miracles, all miracles always have been "my invisible cancer got magically cured!" Call me when god is ready to regrow someones arm, or dedecapetates somebody in front of me. I see that, I might wonder about it. Until then, there is no god, please.

The only reason why religion keeps being perpetuated is because it is such an effective tool for population control. Just tell the people a dumbass fairytale that makes no sense whatsoever (biblical plotholes, anyone?) but tell them that the main character loves them personally, they'll believe you somehow. Keep pushing that narrative, keep coming with nonsensical rules, and soon enough your new slaves will be ready to do any inexcusable crime from raping children (hello catholic church!) to murdering children (Hi IDF, how is your god treating you?) to blowing up children (praise be allah, anyone?) to being a death cult intent on ending the world so that jeebus comes back (hiiidihooo many protestant sects!) to whatever the hell it is that the hindus tend to do.

I do not discriminate, I hate all religions equally.

Start loving humans already dammit

How do you define a religion?

Is it just theism, believing that there is some god or gods that run the universe and you need to do their bidding? How about sun worshipers, or Unitarians? A definition wide enough to catch ALL religions would likely also catch D&D clubs, gyms, businesses and governments.

I agree that a significant fraction of the world's pain, both contemporary and historical, is the result of religious nut jobs. But calling to make all religions illegal is calling for legal repercussions against people for the things they think. Thought crime is not a good look.

Better to just remove tax exempt status and other extra privileges and protections that religions are afforded, and force them to carry their fair share of the social load. Don't protect their hate speech. Don't allow them to dictate how others live their lives.

In Christianity the sun shining is a metaphor for God's power and moral righteousness, so why not use it for good instead needing to extract stuff from the ground?

[–] imahappyguy@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Well, cause then they would have to read the bible and realize they're charged with taking care if the earth. But that's too much work, and there's money to be had! Jesus loved money!

You'd think oil would be of the devil.... Smoking and stinking and of corpses from long dead beings, or planted there by the devil to make us think the earth is older than it is. Meanwhile solar comes from the heavens above, and brings warmth and fresh life...

Kinda funny how God put dinosaur bones in the ground to test our faith, but once they compress and liquefy, we're supposed to use them to also be shitty stewards of the Creation? These people are out of their fucking minds.

Be fruitful, and multiply, and REPLENISH the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Also,

And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

Therefore castor beans should be part of Danielle Smith's diet. Castor beans are a healthy source of ricin.

(To CSIS and RCMP, this isn't a threat, it is meant to display the idiocy and hypocrisy of their "Christian" claims)

Do you really think CSIS, CSEC, or the RCMP really care or know much about the fediverse? It is not the place most of the people are on. Now the five eyes may see the data coming out of your place and have you on a list just for using a non-commercial thing to get away from trackers, but seeing as how you are here I am sure you are on their lists for other reasons to.

Not saying that you are a bad person or anything but rather someone who respects privacy, and the global security system does not like people who respect privacy.

[–] masterofn001@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yes. They absolutely do know and care and there are likely a few among us, even as normal users.

I'm on a lot of lists for a lot of reasons, I'm certain.

I'm not a bad person, though i have done some bad things. And I'm not a good person, though I've done some good things.

How the state sees those do not always parallel.

I appreciate my privacy - I'm a reformed tech evangelical apostate, sometime political actioner, and aware of the mass nonconsenting harvest at every turn.

I am on a lot of lists as well, I can say that probably a lot if not all of my email addresses are being monitored (200+) and a lot of CPU power is being wasted on seeing the spam that is going to those addresses. I am under no illusion that I am not being watched, but what I am saying is using the fediverse is probably seen as noise, not a list item yet. Fedivervse things are not yet targets for people who are not techy people trying to escape capitalism.

I am very open about how people should move away from big tech and move to OSS and I wish more people could reasonabily move to open source hardware as well, but we are aways away from that yet.

I am fairly certain that getting off of advertiser lists also put me on watch lists, I am sure there are CPU cycles being wasted on seeing my normal everyday internet from trackers that are to high up that my pihole and other ad/tracker blockers cannot block. I am sure I started being on lists way back in the day that I got the red hat for dummies book and started learning about linux.

I was almost certainly put on a list in high school when I found a way to look into the system at my high school to see how their website blocker worked and found a way around it. I am sure I was put on a list when I was in University and started studying the psychology and sociology crime. I am sure I was put on a list when I had my ID stolen and I made the stupid decision to have my credit locked, rather than just monitoring it. I am sure I was put on a list when I had my name and gender marker changed. I am sure I was put on a list for 100’s of other things to.

Exactly how it happens in The Boys, too. These people are predictable.
