Fascists are worse.

Active enemies are worse than fair-weather allies.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 42 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The same party that wouldn’t convict Trump of a crime after he told a crowd, ‘Go to the Capitol,’

It's stupid to say that no group is worse than liberals, when he argues that they are the worst for not prosecuting Trump for trying to overturn American democracy.
If they were supposed to prosecute Trump, he must obviously consider those that tried that worse.

Seems like he is presenting an oxymoron.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 16 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Yeah, this is just another "Fascists do fascist things; damn liberals!"

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Spot on. 👍

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

This entire "article" is as if this McKay guy read about Murc's Law and then decided to fulfill it....

'Letter from a Birmingham jail' as true today as it was then. What's the saying about not learning from history, and repeating it?

[–] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

If I had a nickel for every time history repeated itself I'd be richer than Elon Musk.

And it boils down to privilege. I mean, when you talk to white moneyed liberals, they’re getting a lot from this broken system.

Ah ok so rich white people? A tale as old as time.

Who the fuck is Adam McKay?

[–] human@slrpnk.net 5 points 1 week ago

Adam McKay (born April 17, 1968) is an American screenwriter, producer, and director. McKay began his career in the 1990s as a head writer for the NBC sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live (SNL). After leaving SNL, McKay collaborated with comedian Will Ferrell on his comedy films in the 2000s such as Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004), Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006), Step Brothers (2008), and The Other Guys (2010). Ferrell and McKay co-wrote and co-produced many[quantify] television series and films, with McKay himself co-producing their website Funny or Die through their company, Gary Sanchez Productions.

It is incredible to watch people this far down the road still say you gotta stand behind the Democrat Party.

Emphasis mine.

OH....KAY.....and so this guy that apparently left the DemocratIC Party is butthurt because he had a conversation about wildfires with one Democrat that he didn't like. And apparently has adopted the terminology of the conservatives and the reactionary centrists.

And, oh, wow, you guys! He's apparently woken up to the fact that we have two parties - one that is extremely right wing - to the point of being Nazi-adjacent now and another that is moderately right wing. Something most of us noticed by the time we left high school, or at least by the time we left university.

Cool cool. And what is he proposing to do as an alternative if we don't vote for the "Democrat [sic] Party"? Staying home or voting for something like the Green Party are just not options for serious people.

Rich pedophiles seem to be winning everything in this system

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago

I'll refine that general statement to "mostly the elite white liberals". Most others are just hard working stiffs like everyone else. Always remember the percentage rule when applying blame to a generation. It's the 10% at the top. No matter what generation you are referring to, it's always the 10% at the top.

[–] Kagu@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I won't find y'all the MLK quote for it, y'all know it. But it is legitimately more frustrating to hear a white liberal tell me we'd be eating caviar at brunch if only Kamala had been elected than hearing a Trumper tell me he's doing nothing wrong.

Part of it is I don't need to build a coalition with MAGA, but this blue no matter who person is actively halting progress in the "lesser evil" party.

Maybe McKay meant that, maybe not. Dudes a rich white liberal anyways so I hope he's self aware when he says this.

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Exactly. Conservatives are a mostly lost cause who will either figure it out on their own after being beaten by the people they elect themselves or who are so blind they will never see it. Centrists who “aren’t very political” and who “just want everyone to get along” are constantly telling progressives that they’re “too extreme” despite the fact that the entire basis of centrism is being in between two other options, no matter where that actually puts them.

They’re just a bunch of cowards who are heading for a cliff but think that applying the brakes too strongly might be a little uncomfortable so they just do it a little. They’re still going off the cliff, just a little slower.

[–] Kagu@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah and its all the more annoying when they acknowledge the cliff as if we're supposed to clap for them.

E.g. "climate change is the #1 existential threat" "OK will your campaign commit to revoking fracking and mining licenses on federal land?" "WOAH don't be CRAZY"

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

“I’m hitting the brakes, what more do you want?!?”

“To stop before we die! We still can!”

[–] devolution@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago

White guy trying to pin the blame on white guys.

Lord.
