Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Yeah but it is a PERFECT rise, nothing Biden could have ever done.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 11 points 12 hours ago

23% are fucking idiots.

[–] hateisreality@lemmy.world 10 points 13 hours ago

Only 77%‽

[–] TheTimeKnife@lemmy.world 13 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

This is exactly why Republicans are so desperate to interfere with the elections.

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago

They were desperate to interfere before this too, but they’re even more desperate now.

[–] dizzle18@lemmy.zip 23 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Stealing a thought from George Carlin; think of the stupidest fucker you know. And then think; 23 percent of the population is even dumber than that person.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 8 points 16 hours ago

The 23 percent is probably what is called, by different people the Bush Line/the Dick Nixon line (Bulwark) or the Sarah Palin Floor (the Professional Left).

[–] SailorFuzz@lemmy.world 33 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

23% are stupid fucking idiots who shouldn't be allowed to breed.

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 19 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

Some of those 23% are profiting greatly from this disaster; however, your statement still holds true.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 11 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Honestly, barely.

I would bet significantly less than 1% of that 23% are better off in 2026 than they were in 2024-2025

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 6 points 16 hours ago

The other people - probably about 22.99% - probably consider themselves just temporarily embarrassed centimillionaires.

[–] SailorFuzz@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

profiting or not, thinking that costs haven't increased is either sheer stupidity or willful ignorance. Costs have increased, that's a fact. Doesn't matter if you're still profiting from it, things cost more.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 2 points 16 hours ago

They are either too rich to notice, or too stupid to care. But I agree with the point on procreation.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 8 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

And the other 23 percent are DELULU.

[–] politicalincorruption@lemmy.world 9 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

What a stupid poll. 77 percent say the sky is blue.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 5 points 15 hours ago

I thought the funniest poll was the one about who would win in a fight with PEDOnald...

https://yougov.com/en-us/articles/54707-how-many-americans-think-they-could-beat-donald-trump-in-a-fight

25% of Republican men think that Donvict would win.

I mean, WTAF.

But I do wonder what the Venn diagram is for the 19% overall that think they'd lose to a 79 year old man who thinks exercise is bad for you and diet soda is great vs. the 23% in this poll....

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 8 points 18 hours ago

77% acknowledge the sky is blue....

The point of polls isn't to describe reality, it's to get people to tell you how they see reality. If 77% said it was magenta, it wouldn't be true.

You get that right?

Because people thinking things are true if enough people believe it isn't exactly far fetched these days....
