I mean that's where my MiL started (on the right) and after many years of work she's now firmly to the left of Bernie and AOC, but not quite at the "armed minorities are harder to oppress" stage. Maybe by the end of summer ...

I can't be waiting for the whites to grace us with understanding, this is why I hope for the left and will not tolerate the right.

That picture of Hillary Clinton truly unsettles me

Crazy eyes rarely lie.

Thinking about the decapitated heads in her freezer makes her smile.

The United States doesn't have a left wing. Only a right wing that's slightly less extreme right wing than the extreme right wing.

Your two party system has fucked you over for a whole century.

[–] myrrh@ttrpg.network 12 points 3 weeks ago

...a conservative party and a reactionary party...

[–] Riverside@reddthat.com 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The core issue is not the two-party system, that's just the cherry on top of the pile of shit that capitalist "democracy" is.

[–] Tattorack@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I know. But the two party system does prevent everyone from ever being able to vote on a better alternative unless an insurmountable number of people vote for some third party.

[–] ViceroTempus@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Which is difficult due to the many barriers put in by the two major parties to getting on the ballot. Many third parties spend a lot of their funds just trying to get on the ballot and defending against law suits put out by major party candidates. Leaves very little for campaigning or advertisement, relying almost solely on word of mouth and volunteers. And of course each state runs their own elections, so there is never a one size fits all solution. Plus, the rules are constantly changing and generally becoming more difficult.

There are a lot of us with zero political power, and then there’s liberals and Neo liberal parties. I imagine it’s pretty similar in EU or anywhere in the west really. Imperial core & all that

In the US every politician at the left of the right wings is for the US a communist, perspective thing.

[–] d3adpaul@lemmy.ml 13 points 3 weeks ago

The DNC doesnt believe in oligarchs... But they sure do believe in the super value of corporations and the boards that direct them. But deem that this group of wealthy detached individuals is safer than a singular wealthy individual unless the singular individual wants to donate to them.

Power to the wealthy. Thats the only way we seem to be allowed to play the game they call politics.
