I actually get made fun of at work for my massive water bottle and my constant drinking of water. It's so confusing.
We had the opposite happen at my work a little while ago lol. New person came in and saw that I carry a 1.9l water bottle everywhere with me and they started laughing asking why when there's water and cups in the kitchen. Cue a week of various coworkers having to prove to this person that basically everyone in the office has a water bottle of their own that they regularly use at work. Still didn't understand at the end and they also didn't last long, oh well.
I just got a water filter/tank thing the other day.
My god, the water tastes sooo much better, literally sweet, in comparison to before.
So probably that means I've been mildly lead / chlorine poisoning myself before that, but uh, my tea tastes incredible now, so that's good!
I have lead pipes feeding my house so I installed an RO unit shortly after moving in, and frankly, treated tap water just tastes bad to me now. I know it’s fine to drink, technically, but ungh. Yuck.
If yours has a tank and you maintain the system yourself, do make sure to clean it out yearly. I was not aware, for many years, that you need to bleach the tank periodically to prevent pathogen growth, but yes you very much do and it is very important, so do make sure you look into how to do that for your specific system. :)
Oh I don't have a house, I'm under 40 years old so that will likely never be possible, unless I win the lottery.
I have a studio apartment. The filter/tank is uh, i fill it up at the sink, holds 36 cups of water, gravity filter between the top resevoir and the main dispenser tank.
Benefit is the entire system is portable, and maintenance is very simple, the filters themselves are maybe $30 a pop, and the whole set up comes with a particulate detector mabob, so when it reads over a certain amount, filter is starting to go.
There is 0 chance the place I live can afford to overhaul the plumbing... they've been looking to sell the property for about a year now, lol, haven't found a buyer yet.
My younger brother bought his own house in his 20's. It just depends on your job, and the housing market. He sold it, and moved farther north.
