It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it!

Upton Sinclair, ~1935

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 67 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh, they can grasp it just fine.

But they like grasping AIPAC money more.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago

Can they not grasp it?

or do they just not care, because they care more about the money it gives them over the voters that elect them?

First politician that openly calls to not only end all support to Israel, but also to classify them as an enemy will receive my full support.

[–] Wakmrow@lemmy.world 4 points 14 hours ago

My political stance is we tally up all the military "aid" we've sent Israel, adjust for inflation and then give Hamas the same dollar amount, today.

I'm a centrist, after all. I think both sides have a point so we should arm both sides the same.

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Nah we don't need any more enemies in the middle east. I'm so god damn tired of being world police. Let's just stop giving them money and bombs and finally leave the middle east all together. No more wars

[–] Taldan@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Right? I just want nothing to do with Israel. The middle east is so fucking complicated and nothing we ever helps the situation. Let's just do whatever keeps trade moving and avoids war

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago

Well he’s not calling them an enemy, but I bet you weren’t expecting Rahm Emmanuel.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 day ago

They have to have a past with this too. We don't want another Fetterman or similar.

Clearly, it can't be money, right?

[–] PP_BOY_@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

Youre a nazi for even suggesting that

AGod fucking damnit greed makes liberals stupid.

They're too blinded by aipac money to simply recognize,

Genocide BAD, Actually!

Especially when it's hypocritical genocide being enacted by a demographic who should know better than to do that to others after having survived it themselves.

But it's not that they're unable; it's that they're UNWILLING. They would literally rather see the entire country burn to the fucking ground than let actual progressive policy happen. They figured out that it's easier to make money by LOSING elections than by winning them. Even when they have full control of all government branches, they STILL play "good cop bad cop" and do nothing but point out they can just let the bastard pig Republicans back into to room to beat the shit out of us if we don't like their own pig bastard behavior.

BIDEN APPOINTED A MASSIVE ELECTION LOSER TO THE HEAD OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. THE CAMPAIGN IN QUESTION ONLY SUCCEEDED IN WASTING HALF A BILLION DOLLARS, AND FOR WHAT? FOR WHOSE BENEFIT? I'LL FUCKING TELL YOU: The "consultancy" class. All those fat juicy advertising contracts. All the money squandered on hiring "strategists" so that they can pay themselves even more later when THEY become lobbyists or "strategy consultants" themselves after they've finished their tour sucking the corporate cock while occupying public office. They even blacklist any agency that accepts any work from a primary election challenger to protect their incumbent corpo puppet because it's the linchpin of their whole grift.

By all means I'm going to vote as a matter of principle to get the bad cop out of the room but until that fucker is DEAD and never coming back these assholes will never budge. The only way America survives is if the Democrat party fractures and replaces the Republicans in the two party system BECAUSE THERE WILL ALWAYS BE TWO PARTIES IN FIRST-PAST-THE-POST, so that only then can there at least even TEMPORARILY be progressive representation of any sort in the government...

So basically in other words this country is already dead but doesn't fully know it yet, and any effort i exert now is merely due diligence out of duty and propriety while i otherwise cobble together a raft to get the fuck OFF this sinking ship.

It's my understanding that they've always (or at least for a long time) been problematic, but it's only under Netanyahu's leadership that they've gone full fascist and genocidal. Largely because he likes using endless external conflicts to distract from his abysmal right-wing domestic policies.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

I wouldnt call the nakba merely problematic.

[–] 4am@lemmy.zip 15 points 1 day ago

The have always been very problematic, But in the United States they weaponized religious dogma to sweep it all out of public consciousness. If you’re Jewish, it’s the homeland. If you’re Christian or Catholic, it’s “where Jesus happened” and if you’re psychotic and racist, when you kick out all the Jews of the world and they all return there, god will take you into heaven, body and soul, and the rest of the world will be left to fight over the scaps of a burning wasteland, hell on Earth.

It always baffles me how Christians made a warning into a salvation story. “Body and soul to heaven” you will be obliterated by war and there won’t be a body left.

[–] humanspiral@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

To say they have lost sight of their own constituencies, if not captured by Zionist PAC donor interests, would be an understatement.

Harris, Biden, Clintons, Obama all being Israel first loyalist rule over America is something you should understand as a DNC mission. Congressional leadership positions, the same. I suggest that DNC prefers Israel rule over the US more than democratic majorities/victories, because the majority donor base is predominantly focused on that issue.

[–] 4am@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago

Turns out the “both parties” people were right all along; it’s just that democrats let progressive people have platforms as long as they ensure that it only serves to capture votes for center-right conservatives.

And how exactly was giving unilateral power to the Nazi pigs behind Project 2025 the right answer to this?
