!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

I see a lot of AI slop music on YouTube, and I think it’s gross. AI is genuinely for people with no talent and who are lazy, but what really pissed me off was seeing a Michael Jackson AI song. Fuck the person who did that. How are you going to disrespect the GOAT like that? Do you think we should report these videos?

YouTube only sees revenue, and in fact are generating some of the AI themselves.

I've never seen them.
YouTube seems to think you want this.

Is AI-generated content a violation of the ToS?

[–] naught101@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago

Seems unlikely considering who it's owned by

[–] msokiovt@lemmy.today 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

It's not as long as you mark it as such. Even then, the conditions are not clear by any stretch of the imagination.

Don’t post content on YouTube if it fits any of the descriptions noted below.

...

3rd party content: Live streams that include unauthorized 3rd party content that are not corrected after repeated warnings of possible abuse. Channel owners should actively monitor their live streams and correct any potential issues in a timely manner.

any AI content could arguably contain unauthorized 3rd party content (trained on copyrighted art)

Ive been listening to this 'band' for the last few weeks, and fucking loved some of their songs - and then recently found out its all AI.

Really made me conflicted coz i agree and think AI music is a sin... but i cant help but listen to a few songs still that fucking slap... but its AI. wtf.

[–] Darnton@piefed.zip 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

How about listening to the original music whom they pirated in order to create the AI-slop music instead?

Wasn't Michael Jackson not a kiddy fiddler

[–] webpack@ani.social 2 points 4 days ago

apparently it's up in the air whether or not he actually committed crimes against children. he was definitely a weirdo tho (bro was hanging with kids 24/7)

Now that depends, are they trying to fake an actual existing or deceased human artist, or are they literally and openly using AI to make up silly nonsense from non-existent artists?

Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-x_01TNTr0

I do find Obscurest Vinyl very ridiculous and funny, and they never try to delve into deepfaking any actual human, at least not to my knowledge..

[–] agent_nycto@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

So like, faking an individual musician is bad, but faking a combination of musicians.... Ok?

[–] over_clox@lemmy.world 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

The artist behind Obscurest Vinyl writes all his own lyrics, and at least for the time being, they're choosing to bring their lyrics to life via AI. Though they have said that they're an actual IRL musician as well and eventually plans to get more music equipment and something of a band together.

I personally don't see much of anything wrong with it, as long as they're not trying to fool anyone or falsely represent the likeness of any particular real life artist, living or deceased.

But hey, I get it, whatever floats your boat either way. If you don't like AI content, nobody's making you listen to or watch any of it.

[–] agent_nycto@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

I get I don't have to consume it, though I wish the consent for taking other people's works to make it existed.
