If you are here asking: "Is this a science meme?"
Probably, yes. We use the Dawkins definition of meme: a replicating idea, not just an image macro with a fact on it. A good post here doesn't need to teach you something. It needs to make you ask something: who, what, where, when, and especially why or how.
Science isn't a filing cabinet of facts, it's a conversation. For example, a photo of an eel or other localized wildlife counts because most people never see one, and wonder is the first step of inquiry. A car meme counts if it makes you curious about what's under the bonnet. If you want to talk about something you noticed in the world, chances are someone else wants to talk about it too.
We moderate for vibe, not category. Pruning is light, especially where a post creates interesting discussion. Experimenting is encouraged.
See the pinned paper on Shitposting as Public Pedagogy if you want the academic case for why this works.

hope he won't go supermeowva π³
The mass shedding ejections are bad enough!
Wait, he cumming the planets???
That is the central belief of my religious order.
That's just the scientific understanding of planet formation tbh. Does your religion explain why Hisanus is orbiting him, along with his two big blue icy balls?
It does, but I'm not allowed to say.
Supernyaova
Did he eat mars and spit up another Neptune?
Sol needs to go on a diet.
(Just asking) Did AI slop machine eat Mars & poop out another really giant Neptue?
(The feline star seems accurate tho, no notes there.)
It looks to me that earth and Mars switched places, Venus shrank and Mercury is lost in fur. And we seem to have an extra copy of Neptune
Oh. I was wondering the same thing, and didnβt notice it is AI. That checks out.
I think the cat is sitting in Mercury's orbit...
Elon Musk copyrighted Mars so you are no longer allowed to use the name. He is planning Mars.Inc as his next IPO based on vapor and promises.
We arenβt balanced on top of a turtle?
You forgot the ππππ
Iβve only read the first two books (in publication order).
Ah, time for Equal Rites! He's just warming up really, but one thing he did in his last days was to come back around to Eskarina and Simon.
Sorry, am I supposed to understand this? Because I donβt.
Book number 3 is Equal Rites, Eskarina Smith is the main character. Like the first two it's shorter and less intricate than the later novels, but it's well worth reading and I approve of reading the Discworld books in publication order.
GNU Terry Pratchett
I was gonna read each collection in turn, like wizards, witches, death, city watch, etc., and occasionally a standalone.
Is there significant reason to avoid doing it that way?
Nope! Honestly any order is fine, even completely out of order if you don't mind spoilers and are comfortable with a little confusion here and there.
Equal Rites is a Wizards/Witches crossover and helps set up some of the rules, but Pratchett's pretty good about explaining anything you're going to need in the moment he's using it.
I'm glad you mentioned standalones because Small Gods and Maurice are two of my favorites.
Have fun!
Small Gods is the first standalone on my list! I already ordered a copy
Four elephants on the back of great A'tuin
And that's why astrology is different from astronomy.
