5. Mark Spoilers and NSFW

Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed.

No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.

6. No linking to piracy

Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.

We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

Wow, they took an IP with a vibrant recognizable art style, and COMPLETELY ABANDONED that for a generic ass looking bland medieval setting...why?

Loathe this and it's not totally unusual. Kingdom Hearts of all things is transitioning to realistic aesthetic away from it's original art style and I am SO CONFUSED. Donald and Goofy will look so out of place alongside realistic Sora. Either way, I'll take a real, deliberately chosen art style over "realistic" for anything any day of the week

I recently played through the Fable remake (and Fable 2) and there is zero comparison to this new one. Bland and generic just like you say with nothing "Fable" about it :( So disappointing.

Nice its using ForzaTech. Finally a game not using UE!

Is there a reason one should care? The only engines I know are of any interest are UE and godot

That is neat. I wonder if this is going to be a direction for more Microsoft games.

It certainly looks unlike a lot of games I would draw similarities to.

This game is made by the same company that made Forza so not a surprise it uses the same engine. I doubt this engine will become a company wide game engine. Also it would take away resources from Playground Games. Building a game engine that can be used to build all kinds of games for external teams cost way more work than a game engine that’s bespoke made for two games developed in house.

Oh wow! I didn’t make the connection that it’s the same people. Back to back massive titles is impressive.

Fable 3 was so good and bad at the same time. Well, so were Fable 1 and 2 for that matter, but at least they all had vision!

Did... Did they just copy and paste from that Hogwarts Legacy game?

Is anyone else seeing all the similarities?

Are you referring to the rural British scenery?

[–] tidderuuf@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

No, actually that was the one thing that felt more Fable like.

[–] scholar@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Then no, nothing else was remotely like Hogwarts Legacy. The characters, interactions, reputation system, dialogue choices, and combat were all very different.
