The Rules

Posts must be:

  1. Links to news stories from...
  2. ...credible sources, with...
  3. ...their original headlines, that...
  4. ...would make people who see the headline think, “That has got to be a story from The Onion, America’s Finest News Source.”

Comments must abide by the server rules for Lemmy.world and generally abstain from trollish, bigoted, or otherwise disruptive behavior that makes this community less fun for everyone.

And that’s basically it!

Because the pop culture references confuse people.

They didn’t ban punny things outright, but asked they be broadly understandable

“Why are you trying to have the federal government come in and tell us what we can do in our own state? Prime example that the federal government is not focusing on what they need to be.”

Bro needs to look up the meaning of the word discourage

Maybe is missing a second part, like "Jesus is watching you" or maybe "Patrick is watching you and he doesn't like what he sees".

Discourage means: Make guidelines to follow for humourous messages, like "don't make a reference too specific for everyone to get"

I thought it was more like "don't distract drivers on the highway"

[–] Carighan@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

Yeah exactly. Who would have thought that the guidelines would advise that? Inconceivable! 😅

If I can be a "14 year old deep thinker" for a moment, I truly believe that society would be thriving if we got rid of all the uncool people, but in order to create it you'd have to become pretty uncool.
