aftercredits.com

i usually just look it up to see if a movie has a stinger before getting in the theatre.

I always stay through the credits of every movie I see theatrically, it's something my dad raised me to do... Out of respect for the people who made the movie he said.

[–] Simulation6@sopuli.xyz 36 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Your dad probably just woke up when the lights came up and is trying to get back in the game.

[–] QueenHawlSera@sh.itjust.works 5 points 6 days ago

My dad's not a boomer. In fact he is a big cinema guy

LoTR Extended Editions are something like 40 minutes of credits after a 2.5 hour movie. I don’t think I could.

[–] ButtDrugs@lemmy.zip 6 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Bro the extended movies are way longer than 2.5 hrs. The theatrical cuts are longer than that.

[–] papalonian@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Each extended edition has roughly 25 minutes of credits. The shortest movie is about 3 hours 30 minutes including the credits. Longest is about 4 hours 25 minutes.

I like to read the names aloud with friends and talk about the made up things they did. Bob Smith? Best Boy? Yeah he is. Helped me move last weekend. Jane Johnson? Second unit director? First in my heart, the one that got away. Etc.

Do you also clap at the end

[–] teslekova@sh.itjust.works 4 points 6 days ago

Yep, same here, unless of course the bladder betrays me...

The after credits thing was neat when the movies were a spectacle. Now they’re releasing like 15 lovelessly turbospeed-produced marvel films per year and I’m maybe watching them on tv. Waiting through the credits is a dead premise.

if you hated the movie, i understand leaving as fast as possible. but if you liked the movie? won't you stay there a little longer, think about the movie, let it think in, spend some time in the mindset of the movie before returning to everyday life?

[–] ComfortableRaspberry@feddit.org 36 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I need to pee when the movie is over. If I want to sit and contemplate the plot, I can do it on the toilet

There's at least one app, (RunPee) and probably some websites, that will tell you the best time to take a quick mid-movie break. Then you can be comfortable even if the movie runs long. I usually pick a big fight scene myself because there's less dialogue/plot development and the outcome will be apparent on my return. I do miss the theater from my childhood that piped the soundtrack in to the bathrooms.

[–] hereiamagain@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

RunPee was a godsend back when I was actually watching movies in theaters

[–] topherclay@lemmy.world 14 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Surely the best time to pee is during the credits....

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 4 points 6 days ago

Not if you can't make it that long. And having to leave during the big climax is the worst.

[–] EtnaAtsume@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

Yeth, marthter, let the latht thene's thinematography really thoak in.

[–] DupaCycki@lemmy.world 10 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Business idea for cinemas. Put ads between credits and post-credits scenes.

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 2 points 6 days ago

They're probably contractually prohibited from doing that.

[–] red@sopuli.xyz 4 points 5 days ago

I don't need to know who owns the licenses to the 40 background tracks, or which 3D artist crunched long nights to make that bendy spaghetti Black Panther fighting scene.

Real and gay.

Unfortunately, upon reading this comment, I failed to restrain myself from linking [this YT video (timestamp at 26:01, just in case)]

[–] FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It always seems to me thst nobody stays for the post cred. They presumably feel they can just watch it on YouTube. Maybe it's to avoid spoilers? In which case they're actually smarter than me.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 14 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I am one to stay for them unless I really gotta pee. Even if there isn't any extra scenes, it's just easier to leave last than shuffle slowly out with a huge crowd.
