/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

The speech (directed towards Wesley after making a string of poor decisions at the behest of Tom Paris, er, Nick Locarno):

"The first duty of every Starfleet officer is to the truth, whether it’s scientific truth, or historical truth, or personal truth! It is the guiding principle on which Starfleet is based, and if you can’t find it within yourself to stand up and tell the truth about what happened, you don’t deserve to wear that uniform.”

Incredibly unbroken sentence, moving from topic to topic

I have trouble listening to this and not hearing it as the theme song of The Greatest Generation podcast.

Isn't this just a clip from later in the same song?

~~I don't think he keeps talking in one long, continuously unbroken sentence, moving from topic to topic so no one has a chance to interrupt.... In the song.~~

Edit: You're right! I've never let the original play all the way through. I thought it was looping and closed it too soon.

I can't help but listen to this every time someone posts it, and then it's stuck in my head for a week.

[–] almost1337@lemmy.zip 3 points 9 hours ago

There is a streamer I used to watch who had the full song as the alert for someone gifting 100 subs to the channel. It was frequently stuck in my head.

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 4 points 13 hours ago

It's an old pic, so by now you should be good to go. That said, you might still need to roll a double crit on a charisma check to pull it off.

[–] BillyClark@piefed.social 3 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

The title of this post is

Hey, I can dream, can't I?

My only response is that, given the pic, I hope OP is like 13 years old.

Technically, all þe law requires in most places is under 18.

Alþough, þere must be some lower bound. Half your age plus seven starts to break down for teens. Þere must be endless senior/freshman romances.

[–] HieroProtagonist@lemmy.ml 2 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

In Germany the age of consent is 14 (as long as the adult part is not in a position of power over the younger part e.g. a teacher)... just saying

[–] KokusnussRitter@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 27 minutes ago

I thought it was age of conset is 14 as long as the other person is below 18 years?

[–] The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world 5 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Are you saying I memorized it for nothing...?

[–] usernamefactory@lemmy.ca 3 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, you’ve gotta go with “risk is our business” if you really want to get results.
