Why is this a topic that comes up?

People judging others aren't exactly the type who get to choose lol.

Q: What's the difference between pussy and Busch beer?

A: Pussy only tastes like piss for a few seconds.

People that try to shame or attack others for their preferences come off as sad and petty to me at best, and borderline fascist at worst.

There's endless systemic injustices and harmful ideologies to spend your energy fighting - stop trying to convince me to be angry at age gaps, men that prefer shaved armpits/pussies, women that prefer tall men, etc, etc.

I swear some of these people still want fascism, they just want it on the opposite side of the spectrum.

They be fair, the whole hair and woman thing is part of thelarger systemic injustice that women face. It's one of those things where societal norm and personal preference blur together. It's a tough one, for sure.

That said, I'm with you on the whole we've gone too far limiting peoples preferences and choices. It's our differences and unique qualities and makes the world interesting (and possibly better).

woman thing is part of thelarger systemic injustice

How come not sleeping with me is systematic injustice. People have preferences and often unrealistic expectations, but it's not the root of injustice.

I mean I get why some women choose to keep their body hair and I think that's rad, but at the same time they can't be upset if a man chooses not to get involved with them because of it.

People have preferences, and no one complains when women have grooming standards for the men they do stuff with

[–] sunbrrnslapper@lemmy.world 7 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Totally. I only dated tall wealthy men with a full head of hair for the same reason. 😉

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 6 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

That's fine as long as you don't make a big deal about men who only date women based on their physical characteristics and their performance of traditional gender roles...

[–] teslekova@sh.itjust.works -1 points 4 hours ago

No no, we can make a big deal about it, that's free speech too. 😄

I get the societal norm angle when we're talking about armpits/ legs because you can see those. A girl could go to the beach and see all the other women/girls having shaved legs / armpits and feel gross or ugly for being the one with hair there and feel judged because it's on display.

With pubes though you're not going to see others so you don't know the norm or have as much expectations on how a women should look, and other people, besides intimate partners, aren't going to see yours so you don't feel as judged.

So it's more of a matter between the women and there partner rather then society, which can be addressed in an abusive manner, but can also be addressed in a healthy communicative manner.

Most women's swimwear requires maintenance of pubic hair to wear without getting bikini spiders.
