If a website requires me to upload an ID, then I'm going to be finding a new website, because I'm not doing that.

Thanks for posting a reference.
The bill aims to ... disable "addicting" design features to minors.
Why only to minors? Don't all people deserve protections from knowingly addictive things?
This has never been about the kids. It's about slowly eroding privacy for all of us.
Most will just fall inline with this intrusive corporate cash grab. There will also come a fresh wave of interest in privacy from those who are gaining the sense that this move isn’t what it’s being framed as. It’s a good opportunity to promote the concepts and practices behind digital sovereignty.
I've decided that this will be the hill I die on. I'm not scanning biometrics or uploading my id.

I don't know what KOSA is, but I can guess. And I will also die on that hill. No way I would give biometrics or my I'd.
In the last 12 months I received 4 mails from 4 companies being sooooooo sorry that they had a databreach and my personal info got stolen. And they didn't even attach a fucking 5 moneyz-coupon. Not that this would have changed anything...
It really depends on what ends up being required. I'm already pretty much degoogled. I already can't watch age restricted videos on youtube and if it changes to require ID for any videos then I just won't watch youtube anymore. If ID requirements spread further to things like domains, email providers, etc then I may not have a choice because of my work situation. It could be that I have to find a new employer or career and rework my personal services to be hosted locally. From a technical perspective it's possible but it could be really uncomfortable.
Yeah, I'm on the same painful boat right now.
I'll spend more time on Tor if it comes to that.
KOSA has been heavily criticized by members of the "Don't Delete Art" (DDA) movement, including American Civil Liberties Union, the National Coalition Against Censorship, Fight for the Future, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the Woodhull Freedom Foundation, libertarian magazine Reason, and anti-abortion group Students for Life.
That presents a good websearch lists, if you want to know how this will negatively affect the internet and the lives of children.
