Ruining tires for 20 dollars? He should reconsider his pricing.

[–] DrCake@lemmy.world 93 points 6 days ago (1 children)

He’s not in it for the money, just the love of the game

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 14 points 6 days ago

loving the burn

[–] Logarrhythmia@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago

20 bucks is only labour. You see, that’s where the amortization surcharge comes in, which is 12 bucks/tire and 10 for drivetrain and breakpad usage. There is also a transporation fee of 2 dollars a mile. Oh, and don’t forget the high fuel prices, so there is a surcharge for that which is 20% of the combined transportation and labour cost.

What if the car is stolen?

[–] qwertyasdf@feddit.uk 10 points 6 days ago

Exactly people where I live do it for free. Its a very competitive market

One small burnout does not ruin the tires.

[–] diabetic_porcupine@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago (2 children)

So what would you say is the profit margin at $20 a burnout? A fresh set of tires can cost an arm and a leg depending on the diameter

[–] Mac@mander.xyz 8 points 5 days ago

Oh, there is none. You're absolutely operating at a huge loss. lol

[–] msage@programming.dev 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Get cheap worn out tires for free.

Do burnouts for $20 a pop.

Profit.

strayaaaaaa

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 1 points 6 days ago

Might have an old pair of rears on different wheels to put on for burnouts

Little known fact, but bricks through the windscreen are the natural enemies of the burnout.

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 19 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Most folks into doing burnouts will gladly do one for you if you just ask, anywhere, any time.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a sideshow in the Main Concourse of Grand Central Station yet.

Grand Central Terminal

Pet peeve. I worked in the area for many years.

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 2 points 5 days ago
