Loved them at first, but they fully enshitified after OPPO. They were also on my blocklist for future purchases after claiming my trade in was damaged presenting pictures with no damage.
I was considering OnePlus 15R, what is the problem with the brand?
In the early days they were everything I wanted in an Android device. Hardware sold with minimal markup, long battery life, and easily customizable when it came to the swapping ROM’s. Their customer service was also fantastic.
Then they slowly raised margins and the hardware wasn’t cheaper than other flagships. Then they started making their own ROM and making it harder to swap it out. Now they’re just another Android. Nothing sets them apart from pretty much any other device.
On top of that, their customer service is now on the deny delay defend flow. If you have a problem and you need their support, you will regret going with them. If you don’t have a problem, you’ll probably be fine. But why go with them at all, nothing they offer is better than a Samsung or LG.
As a fanboy of LG phones, sadly everything they offer is now better than LG because the last phone LG released was in 2020. At least they shut down their phone division rather than enshittifying.

Brand has been dead to me for a while. Used to be hacker friendly, but now why should I care.
So what do you guys gonna use? Everyday less and less viable options

Yeah but I don't want to buy Google devices. I would rather lineageos if it comes to that
Hopefully one of these weeks Motorola will release their "Shipped with Graphene" devices, but that hasn't yet happened.
The rumor I heard around the internet is that the Motorola will have all of the security features Graphene is asking for (and Motorola gets to benefit from both the Graphene nerd sales and the improved security, Google does it in their Pixel line for some reason so there's got to be perks for Googly Android) and an unlocked bootloader so you can install Graphene, but it won't be shipped with it.
Huh. Maybe I misunderstood. Guess time will tell.
Buy 2nd hand.
Google wont see your dime but you reap the benefits.
That's such flawed logic. You're still promoting the purchase and use of Google devices. If there's a thriving secondhand market, more people can sell them and buy flagships.

Being bought out seems to equal corporate death, huh? They haven't made decent phones for a bit though.
Edit: sems it was a merger in 2021, not a buy out. Still, the company truly died then anyway.
Yeah, I had multiple one+ phones for years. The last one I got was literally unusable after the first update and customer services was non existent.

How was Ubuntu able to launch like a dozen of phones back in the day?
Can we have that ? Why can't they do it now - I would buy a high end model.
? they tried to crowdfund one single model but despite the overwhelming support (raised $35 mil) it wasn't enough to actually start production

I haven't kept up on what'd been happening with OnePlus so this blindsided me. It sucks. I love my OnePlus 12. It runs as good as the day I bought it. I've never had a phone with the lifespan the battery has had. Bummer.
There were rumors about this for a few months, so not a surprise. Still, sad how they managed to kill the brand. I'm still using OP6 with original battery that starts to show it's age, and trying to find a decent replacement device is a challenge.
Get a OnePlus 15, it will last you another 10 years

Still have a oneplus, the 9pro. Still a great phone, but I know that newer models are pretty shit. So this would be my last oneplus anyway (after having owned 3). Next phone would be a de-googled android or a Linux phone. I'm thinking of Fairphone. But right now my 9pro is still good and AI free so I don't need anything else.

I honestly don’t think I’ve ever heard someone here in Europe say they used a OnePlus device. Our entire company is all iPhone or some flavor of Samsung.
I don’t imagine they were much of a player here in Europe, just looking at my own circle of friends, family and colleagues.
Was very happy with my 1+1. But sadly all downhill from there.
I loved my OnePlus 3 so much, only stopped using it in like, 2021 because the screen started to lift in one corner. Replaced it with an Oppo brand that was kinda crap from day 1. Only bought it because it was one of the few phones with a headphone jack.
I would say even up to the 7, they were still somewhat on brand of being enthusiast friendly

Still use my 5T. Absolute tank of a phone. Considering replacing the battery and charging/aux port to refresh it for another 4 year run.
