Gideon was polling ahead of collins too.

Collins has been a big contributor to Maine for decades, she's tough to beat. I'm pulling for Jackson, but remember Mainers went for Kamala and Collins by safe margins. Vote, donate, tell your friends - nothing feels safe this November

I'm probably polling ahead of Susan Collins at this point, and I don't live within 500 miles of Maine and am also a complete nobody.

I think she'd currently be losing to a few of the more devastating mosquito-spread diseases if they somehow congealed themselves into a human and ran against her.

Lol exactly. "Amoebic dysentery leads Sen. Susan Collins in new poll" to the surprise of absolutely no one but Susan Collins.

Mainers are really going to elect the face that launched a thousand waterbottles?

/pre-emptive /s because I know half of you have uninstalled your sarcasm detectors

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 8 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

You have the preemptive /s, but no preemptive TLDW? I’m 2 minutes in and still have no idea what the point is.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 9 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Oh CNN is already pumping out hand-wringing anti-Jackson pseudo hit pieces.

He threw a waterbottle in a session about prescription drug prices and another senator took that personally..

I am of the horribly misogynistic opinion that we shouldn't throw things at women when they disagree with us in public

Falsely imprisoning a girlfriend in a drunken rage and rape are fine, but you draw the line at a water bottle?

Unfounded allegations based on "memory recovery" (hypnosis) and published without an ounce of journalistic integrity in a bipartisan co-ordinated "flood the zone" wave versus attacking a woman in a crowded room and verbally berating women so much that your entire campaign was staffed by dudes before Chuck Schumer had to fly in women staffers from DC just to help save those optics

Killing civilians in Afghanistan isn’t unfounded though.

I find your dedication to Platner as an individual fascinating.

I'm GLAD we got Rid of a Young Working Class Man for a Republican!

Platner was definitely a crypto fascist larping as a progressive. Maine almost ended up with a Fetterman for governor.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 5 points 7 hours ago

Personally my bet is closer to him being a political progressive but with a lot of skeletons and some demons. Which is fine interpersonally but it could have caused issues such as blackmail and acting like a rat if it started coming out. Probably wouldn't have been a problem if he cleared everything out first but folks often don't do that due to shame.
