Y'all remember the Carl's Junior "Six-Dollar Burger"? The name was referring to a hamburger that tasted like it cost $6, because that would have been a lot to pay for a burger. It was actually $3.25 or something like that.

To be clear, this is a place for satirical and meta^2^ references. Not really the actual movie details, unless they're truly stupid or have strong meme potential/background. "Oh hai Mark" kind of stuff. Tho sometimes even these can span a good debate.

I remember them being $6 at first, and then it quickly became a joke as the price rose well above $6 within a year or two after being introduced. They were never around $3-4 here. CJ's was my favorite place to go until they got up to $9 just for the burger alone.
Even accounting for inflation this is still a pretty great deal. That would be the equivalent to a little under 20 bucks now. Just goes to show how good prices have outpaced inflation in recent years.
But inflation is the overall change in prices!
Saw some video recently with the dude saying that cost of living is literally just another lever the powerful will control like taxes... It's another tax and they essentially can manipulate it how they want to extract more wealth from their underclasses.
We are being robbed because they just chose to charge more and be dicks.
There's a swedish song about how our welfare system is structured to basically just funnel tax money into private hands via poor people.
Landlord raises the rent, government raises the housing welfare in response, end result is landlord gets more free money from the state.
It's gotten a lot worse over time too with private equity.

I used to eat lunch at Taco Bell in 1991. They had a fifty-cent menu so $2.50 could get you rice and beans, two hard-shell tacos and two meximelts, which was a more than adequate amount of food for lunch.
Last week I bought lunch for my mother and I at Five Guys. Two burgers, one order of fries and two small fountain drinks came to $44. The fries were so greasy that the bottom of the bag broke open in my car.
Fun Fact, in the entire existence of the USA the closest thing there has ever been to a famine was the Dust Bowl.
But I feel like we're getting really close to changing that as Water is becoming too expensive for Farmers.
The one sandwich on its own is more than that...
