Presumably I'd at least end up on a list from this post, or if I already am on there, they'd add an underline.

That is in fact not a crime in the relevant country:

On June 11, 1990, the Supreme Court in the case of United States v. Eichman struck down the Flag Protection Act, ruling again that the government's interest in preserving the flag as a symbol does not outweigh the individual's First Amendment right to disparage that symbol through expressive conduct.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_Protection_Act

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_desecration

Flag desecration is legal in the United States and carries no criminal or civil penalties. Based on Wikipedia's list, the US is more progressive on this issue than most other countries.

[–] Hapankaali@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Is it "progressive" to not ban flag desecration? I would just call it "not idiotic."

[–] Infernal_pizza@lemmy.dbzer0.com 32 points 1 week ago

Progressive just means not idiotic before everyone else

[–] StaticFalconar@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

People consider things like women's rights progressive, but I would just call that common sense.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 week ago

Anything that improves upon the status quo or moves the needle in a positive direction is progressive. That's the definition of progress.

[–] _stranger_@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

That's what progressive means in the U.S. It's why the idiots are so afraid of it.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

on this issue

Seems like a very clear and appropriate use of language to me.

Yay I also live in a green yes country, cue Bon Jovi 💪🏿💪🏿

[–] jdr@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 week ago

Actually it's about a different country, gawd

[–] Armand1@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

This is by far the most extreme one:

[–] benignintervention@piefed.social 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oops, time to fire up zomboid again

[–] erin@piefed.blahaj.zone 15 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Build 42 stable is out! It's very good! The map is so much nicer now.

[–] themoken@startrek.website 7 points 1 week ago

Totally. I had a few runs on it while it was in the unstable branch and the new mechanics are great, but firing it up after the stable release and seeing all the love put into older map locales really made it feel like a brand new game.

[–] wezzzy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Wow thats tuff what changed ill chrck it out later today i think

[–] erin@piefed.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They rebuilt the entire map, hired a huge new map team. Added a bunch of animations and lighting stuff, like light sources actually spilling through windows and such, as well as a ton of new crafting and building skills and items. You can make your own castle and forge a suit of metal armor if you really wanted. Good luck on grinding the masonry and blacksmithing though.

[–] wezzzy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 week ago

The skill grinding yeah. Sound fun tho :)

It's against flag code; which isn't a set of laws. Just respectful guidelines.

If you want to dispose of your flag according to flag code: You have to burn it. May I suggest throwing it into an oven along with a full gas can? Dispose of your old flag and possibly take down an entire neighborhood of zombies in the resulting house fire. 😤

[–] RickyRigatoni@piefed.zip 2 points 1 week ago

You have to cut the star square off and each individual stripe. Then you can burn it.

[–] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Project Zomboid spotted! Build 42 is awesome and I fucking love the ragdoll physics when I run them over now

[–] linkinkampf19@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Been playing almost exclusively with Slayer's Week One, and while it has some extra jank with 42 Stable (the plane crash in particular), it's still so damn fun. Half the time even just finding basic exploits with the NPC AI. I'm really tempted to start a run with the chaos mod to see how I fare in the 7 seconds I remain alive 🧟‍♂️

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I'll have to turn that back on and see if it still tanks performance. When they first added ragdolls, every now and then some random chunk of meat or a whole body would be stuck in the ground tripping the fuck out and getting spaghetified which dropped the framerate down to single digits. 🤣

[–] Jankatarch@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Honestly depends on gender/race/socio-economic background at this point.

[–] vogi@piefed.social 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

You should be fine. Just make sure to seperate and put stars & stripes into their designated bins.

[–] DudeImMacGyver@kbin.earth 5 points 1 week ago

That's not a crime in any county as far as i know, just bad etiquette in the US.

[–] SuperApples@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Yes. In my country we must put all keys on our keychain to properly organise our inventory.

[–] thorhop@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 week ago

Why, I fought in two dozen galactive wars for that flag, but I'll fight tooth and nail in court for him - if it weren't for the fact that I lost my teeth and nails in 06'.

[–] Forester@pawb.social 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Your supposed to burn it.

"when an American flag is worn out and no longer fit for display, it should be retired in a dignified way. The preferred method is ceremonial burning, but you can also bury it"

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago

My city takes garbage to landfills, so it would be burying, just with a few extra steps

[–] Kenny2999@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Of course. All american flags must be properly recycled.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What about the ones Made in China?

[–] Kenny2999@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

They're all made in chyna. Anyway, same laws apply. The constitution ain't supposed to be optional.

While it is, the only time I remember it being relevant in the news, the person responsible (Māori activist Tāme Iti) got firearm charges instead:

[–] cepelinas@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 week ago

Only if it is in public.
