I call it now, if the democrats pick a candidate that actively opposes Israel he will be misteriously murdered before the election.

I hear Democrats LOUD and CLEAR! NEWSOME it IS!
-HIGHLY Paid Democratic Strategists!
I demand much more. I want trials for war crimes. But, you know, ABUNDANCE of some shit.
The present Dems party has proven time and again that they'll fight their base rather than work for them. Repubs have a huge leg up in this area. They adapt. They get crazier. They elevate lunatics. That's why they win. We need Leftists who say, "eff you" to moderates and right-leaning Dems (which is basically all Dems).
The present Dems party
We can change that to a great degree in the Midterms. The new people coming in will not be the same old Corpo-Establishment Losers that helped MAGA take over. They will want to fight, ad we have to back them vociferously, and slap down the old guard losers HARSHLY, starting with voting out Schmuck & Jeffries as leaders. They are Manchurian MAGAs, and they've already been making plans with MAGA to back down when they take over.
The Dems are where the Republicans were in 2010, with the Tea Party kicking down the door. The Tea Party was the real beginning of the Fascist wave that took over their party, and the 2026 Midterms can be the beginning of the new Democratic Socialist wave that takes over the Dems.
More recently, the AIPAC strategy on Israel is to splinter where it sends money and attack candidates on grounds fully independent of Israel.
Maine was a great example of this in action (for better or worse). Platner was taken down (belatedly) based on his history of infidelity and misogynist violence. Francesca Hong lost to David Crowley largely because of the endless harping on her excessively-Woke views on Thanksgiving. El-Sayed is facing a deluge of TERFism going into the general, paid for by a constellation of Zionist-backed media. Mamdani getting an endless hate-parade from the NYPost on anything tangentially related to cops.
I suspect the AIPAC playbook is going to look very similar to the New Labour playbook in the UK. You'll get smeared from every angle except support for Palestine.
Candidates lose when nobody endorses them. In Hong’s case she could’ve pulled through with a Bernie or AOC endorsement.
~~The other 2 should’ve never entered. Campaigns are popularity contests and if you know you’re unlikely to win voters or have skeletons in your closet you should stay home or work for somebody else’s campaign.~~
The other 2 should’ve never entered.
Zohran Mamdani and Abdul El-Sayed? They did win
Fuck Isreal, bomb Russia into compliance, Medicare for all, abortion on demand. Those are my least radical items that need support for a vote.
I say end all participation in all wars. No more guns, bombs, or weapons for anyone. Focus on domestic infrastructure and services.
Isolationism didn't work a century ago, stop trying it. You can ignore countries ran by warmongering maniacs, but they won't ignore you.
The establishment doesn't take demands. You are their bitch as far as they are concerned.
True but then they dont get our votes, even if it means a republican win. I feel like every election they hold us hostage to whatever awful positions they can sell us all out for, and I dont feel like allowing that anymore. They make a good platform and stick with it, or they are fired.
The DNC to voters,

Failed to load media, if this is intentional it still fits.
Ha! I guess so. It was a gif of groundskeeper Willie, "Willie hears ya, and Willie doesn't care"
Optimistic to think that there will be legit elections in 2028. Watch this next election. Mail in voting is fucked., Trump is going to put his ICE stasi at polling places to suppress turnout, and there will likely be violence. Even if democrats win control, there will be claims of voter fraud and a refusal to swear them in. Mark my words, the MAGA era won't end until the U.S. is in total collapse and they are physically removed. What the people want doesn't matter, as MAGA has seized control and ejected from military leadership those who oppose them. Things are going to get a whole lot worse before they can get better.
ICE can stand there with their fat bellies and overpriced colored mirror Costa del Mar sunglasses all the fuck they want, and watch me go vote for people who don't have an orange ring around their mouths.
Costa del Mar sunglasses
Never heard of these, but looking at them, they do seem to be the choice of losers everywhere.
Ironic, since this comment also seems to have the goal of suppressing voter turnout.
It is necessary to point out the shit that Trump et al are doing, and to also express concern that traditional methods of change such as voting are at risk and may not work as they should, but do not try to convince others that it’s pointless to even try. At best you come off as someone who has given up on democracy and are advocating for an immediate violent revolt, and at worst you sound like a fascist plant.
*This isn’t to say that a violent revolt might not be necessary in the end, it very well may; but when there’s still a chance to elect more progressive leadership to save this country from fascism, we have to try. Turning to violence should be a last resort, and while we are unfortunately absolutely getting appallingly close to it, this wave of progressive support means we aren’t there quite yet, and there is other work to be done
That was not my intent. I just call it like I see it. By all means, everyone should get out and vote.
Ok good. Totally understandable to be skeptical and angry, hell, fucking furious at the situation we find ourselves in. I just wanted to emphasize (not even necessarily to you, but to anyone who might be reading) it’s important not to give up on things like activism and voting while they might still have an effect.
Again this next part isn’t aimed at you but rather at everyone, but there’s a concept I’ve seen here on Lemmy a few times lately that is very appropriate for our current situation called the four boxes of liberty that basically says that there are 4 boxes citizens can use to defend liberty / prevent fascism; the soap box (free speech), ballot box, jury box, and ammo box. It seems like the upcoming elections may be our last opportunity to utilize the soap and ballot boxes, and since the jury box already seems to be almost entirely either corrupted or populated with limp-dick cowards, the ammo box might indeed be just around the corner. Still, we gotta try the soap and ballot while we still can
