The city should destroy patches of the pavement and replace them with mini parks with furniture and other accomodations to stop at the start any initiative to turn that again to space for cars

Well the people that don’t like it being a park aren’t there; they’re sitting at home angrily posting on Facebook that they can’t drive on the road anymore
Does it really shock you that people who dont like it would not be photographed utilizing it
"beach" and "highway" two words i've never seen together, but here we are....
It's classified as a Bhyway, not to be confused with byway. Kind of like a stroad. So Americans can enjoy the beach at high speed without ever leaving their cars
When I read the word 'park' I expected more greenery.
So far, it just looks like an abandoned stretch of road but then it seems they only closed it last year.
Hope they can keep it and get some vegetation out there.
The abandoned stretch of road is kinda the appeal. It’s like a boardwalk—previously there was a small pedestrian path parallel to the highway but I never used it because it was bumpy (impossible to skate, uncomfortable to bike on), and drivers sped down the highway which is also unpleasant to be around
Well that makes some sense. Hope they make it look nicer though.

Apparently it was the biggest pedestrianisation project in California history. Would be a real shame if that ballot initiative destroys the park

All those visitors enjoying the park and basically one guy with a $5 website to make it 'controversial.' Advertising has ruined the news.
Congress would allow the fledgling networks free use of taxpayer-owned airwaves in exchange for one public service. That public service would be one hour of air time set aside every night for informational broadcasting, or what we now call the evening news. Congress, unable to anticipate the enormous capacity television would have to deliver consumers to advertisers, failed to include in its deal the one requirement that would have changed our national discourse immeasurably for the better. Congress forgot to add that under no circumstances could there be paid advertising during informational broadcasting.
Newsroom said it years ago. It's even worse now.

Looks so cold there. It's 102 in the Midwest. It's only 97 in Phoenix.
Pacific current off the coast keeps it cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Who knows how long it will last now though.
I know I’ve been saying “this weather is abnormal” for years but the Bay Area weather lately is so completely different than normal that I’m kind of reeling. Not that it’s unexpected or anything, just super surreal and sad.
Be hilarious for the next couple of years as the unprecedented super el niño (super is +2°C surface temp, current measurement is +6°C) causes previously unseen levels of air pressure and current fuckery. 😁

September is the hottest month of the year in San Francisco, so it should start warming up soon.
