NICE BUTT

Also nice desk, the sides look fantastic. I hadn't heard of a leather-topped writing desk before, that is cool. Can you still write on a single sheet of paper on top of it, or does it need to be a stack of pages?

Also, !pen_and_paper@lemmy.world might be interested in this.

Its a fantastic writing surface. You can do single sheet no problem, the leather is just soft enough to make it feel nice. I'll check out pen_and_paper, I haven't heard of it.

Classy as heck. How's it feel to sit at?

Its very nice! I'm not a small dude so I was worried that itd feel small but its actually perfect. Great desk to write and study at.

Jelly. I had an old wooden desk of vaguely similar proportions and I loved it, but it always felt cramped.

Wb sitting on?

Is leather a better thing to have for the surface. Like is it hard or soft to write directly on???

[–] maturelemontree@lemmy.zip 12 points 22 hours ago

Its incredible to write on. It doesn't have any grain and has an imperceptible give that makes the writing feel soft without feeling like you're writing on a blanket.

Nice work! A proper desk is a joy to work at. It's amazing at just how much time one can spend at a desk doing paperwork over the course of a week. And drinking tea when the weather outside isn't favorable.

My desk is a bit smaller than yours, I only have drawers on one side. I sometimes wish for a bit bigger one, but the small size forces me to keep the clutter to a minimum. Otherwise I 'd be buried in paper and prototypes. Much to Grandma's cats delight.

I agree, the workspace makes a difference! My last desk was one of those Walmart desks with no drawers or anything and it felt horrifically cluttered. This desk is already fantastic for all my spatial needs. Thanks for the appreciation, I'm glad I can keep my cat away from the clutter!

Is the top actual leather because that must be a nightmare to write on.

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 4 points 18 hours ago

It's like writing on a stack of a few sheets rather than on a hard surface. It's better. There's a good reason they exist, they weren't made to make writing worse.

[–] HerbalGamer@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 day ago

No it's actually pretty nice because it cushions the paper beneath the pen. Writing on smooth wood is absolutely worse.

[–] Gladaed@feddit.org 2 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Why would someone mount leather to the surface?

[–] Akasazh@lemmy.world 3 points 23 hours ago

It's damn comfortable

[–] ToiletFlushShowerScream@piefed.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The original builder had a dearth of trees, because a herd of rampaging bulls ate them all...?

[–] Gladaed@feddit.org 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

... There is just leather spanned over a void? Ok I guess.

[–] maturelemontree@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Its not over a void. It makes an excellent smooth writing surface. I have an appreciation for stationary and like writing letters, journaling, that sort of thing. The leather top is smooth and better to write on than most wood surfaces as there is no grain.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 2 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (1 children)

Since you like paper and stuff I'm guessing it's auto-incorrect that messed up your spelling of stationery. Although you have a nice desk to be stationary at, if you meant you like sitting still.

[–] maturelemontree@lemmy.zip 4 points 23 hours ago

Good catch, it must have been autocorrect as stationary is much more common than stationery. I probably missed a letter somewhere and it made it the former.

Thank you for this competent and helpful answer!
