I’m just glad the last season of the boys is getting some love, not that it deserves any.

I’m honestly shocked how normalized this is.
Have we really become so lazy that we don’t even want to learn a minimum of a programming language, especially if you work in IT? Sure, if you have no training or education in IT and just want to make a quick app to help your personal projects, go crazy. But I’d say even then you’d he doing yourself a disfavor by not even looking at some documentation for 5 minutes. It seems like today people completely disregard the value of constant learning, even if it won’t result in the next Apple, I feel like learning something new even surface-level can only be beneficial. Vibe-coding is just one aspect, the fact people are reading worse and worse further shows that learning simply lost its appeal, people just want to make money believing billionaires who tell them “oh anyone can be like me, without school or education you just need crypto or whatever the next finance bro trend is”.
As someone that always Reads The Fucking Manual, it's frustrating to live in a world full of people that never Read The Fucking Manual.
I wrote a 60 page manual for the machine my code runs on and I have talked to a total of one (1) person who actually checked the manual for his problem before calling us for help.
What are you actually learning? Coding hasn’t changed substantially in 10 years. You might have picked up some rust along the way but what are you actually reading?
This isn't specifically related to coding. I'm taking about any manual, be it for a programming language, or a microwave oven. Regarding my particular field of endeavor, how many people that drive cars are even remotely familiar with the actual road rules legislation, or even looked at them since they got their licence? See also the people that complain about following Ikea instructions as if they aren't the simplest possible instructions to follow.
You’re comparing figuring shit yourself to ai vibing it for you? Wow. Just fantastic. Really going with consistent themes here.
What are the two themes to you? Because I see
-
I didn't learn it so I can't do it
-
You should always learn it
Seems pretty consistent to me
Offloading individual responsibility / competency is not the same as “figuring shit out yourself”
The individual who doesn’t know the rules of the road may not have an incident but may also constantly be endangering themselves and others. Your retort is derogatory and lacks contemplation but what did I expect this is a comment section on the internet 😅
What are you actually learning 10 years in coding?
Learning how to learn. Code or otherwise, learn something
Honestly it's worse, it's not like it is a super power to use it, it produces garbage results, especially for people who proclaim to want to learn.
