Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

FUN FACT: Conservative fascists despise regulations that protect water and air. They call such regulations "woke" and have removed them in many fascist parts of the U.S.

Their own deregulation has created perfectly legal opportunities to give entire communities of fascists some fun terminal diseases. No laws need to be broken to help exterminate these particular cockroaches. If you live near these hives of conservatism, be sure to do your part (within the bounds of the law, of course).

Zeldin announced that? Lee Michael Zeldin? who currently lives in Long Island New York? That Lee Michael Zeldin?

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 2 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

99% of regulations exist for a good reason.

If the Republican party is anything other than a party of pedophiles, they are a party of deregulation, which is a great way to kill Americans.

It's also a perfectly legal way to exterminate entire hives of fascists. They don't mind drinking water that will give them Multiple Myeloma. Good people can help address the infestation of conservatives without ever violating a single law.

Speed running the collapse for no discernible reason... This truly is the dumbest timeline.

dumb fucks don't realize that in a collapsed civilization on a burning planet their money and wealth is fucking worthless.. and with the speedrun they're on, there's no fucking way any of them are getting off planet, either.

Oh, so these aren't evil alien lizard people terraforming our planet for themselves?

I had that one on my "Batshit Crazy Things in 2026" bingo card...

“We are driving a dagger through the heart of climate-change religion and ushering in America’s Golden Age,’' EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin said in an essay in The Wall Street Journal.

They are Zealots of Mammon.

[–] randompasta@lemmy.today 10 points 1 day ago

Golden as in piss colored.

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago (1 children)

University of Pennsylvania climate scientist Michael Mann called the EPA’s action “just the latest form of Republican climate denial. They can no longer deny climate change is happening, so instead they’re pretending it’s not a threat, despite the overwhelming scientific evidence that it is, perhaps, the greatest threat that we face today.”

[–] Equinox1289@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 day ago

Climate change isn't real, but even if it is,

It's not our fault, but even if it is,

It's not that bad, but even if it is,

There's nothing we can do about it.

“In the face of overwhelming science, it’s impossible to think that the EPA could develop a contradictory finding that would stand up in court,” said David Doniger, a climate expert at the Natural Resources Defense Council

Expect the Trump administration to follow their current winning strategy: consistently lose in lower courts, appeal every ruling until it gets to the Supreme Court, Supreme Court makes up some new bullshit from an intentional misreading of history and hands Trump a victory.

No wonder this admin has a problem with separation of church and state. They don't understand the word "religion". I reckon it's not because they're stupid or ignorant, they just choose to not understand it, like Upton Sinclair observed about money.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

It's projection. They are religious nuts so they just assume everyone else is religious about something else. They don't understand science or climate change and why people "believe" in it so they assume it's indoctrination and religion.

[–] lka1988@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They know what they're doing. They throw around "religion" and other shit because their fanbase is functionally illiterate.

[–] Taldan@lemmy.world 1 points 17 hours ago

Some know it's all bullshit, some are genuinely true believers. Always interesting to find out which are which

including rules on climate change

USA is internationally a rogue nation, that doesn't respect international treaties anymore.
But this shit is hitting Americans directly too, because just as the government doesn't respect international agreements, they don't respect their own people.

I warned about it on social media hundreds of times all 3 times Trump was a Presidential candidate.
Don't vote for the psychopath, he doesn't care about anybody but himself, and it will be bad for everybody.
One would think this is kind of obvious, but to half the Americans apparently not.

Give the poorest white man someone to look down on and they'll empty their wallet for you.

This is MAGA in a nutshell.

The land of the Antichrist will fall dark … I'm seeing an increasing number of parallels to Revelation 16 in recent times. It's quite interesting, especially considering the history of that text: Threatening the Romans and Nero (the original and literal Anti-Christ). History doesn't repeat, it rhymes.
