how do you even sue someone that's anonymous.
All is fine. Everything will continue as normal.

How do you sue somebody anonymous?
Oh, that's easy. You have one of your rent-a-cops grab a random dude off the street, beat a confession out of him, and then sue that guy.
They're hoping for a default decision in their favour when the anonymous person(s) don't show up to court. Then they try to use that court order to shut down their work wherever thay can
Does have me wondering what the Austrian legal system is like (where Denuvo is headquartered). Seems hard to set a court decision when the accused hasn't even been identified. Can they even prove it's a single person?
But the work is already illegal. This is probably more about getting court injunctions against services (like, for example, Reddit) that might have the guy's PII. Obviously voices covers his tracks, but getting a bunch of his anonymized data might reveal a slip-up.
I probably shouldn’t comment as I haven’t read the article (SHAME) but my assumption is this is the first step to compel platforms the cracker may have used to providing identifiable information on them.
I think I understand the approach.
Pro-consumer data/service companies have privacy policies where they don’t share someone’s info. The sole exception is when that person has used those services to break the law. The suit may have the intent of establishing that fact so said services consider providing the user’s info.

If they went straight to legal it means they legit don't know how to stop it. That's pretty damning for them.
First step would be to analyze the hack and the patch it so that the bypasses no longer work. I'm guessing the hack exposes a serious flaw.
the company claims that the accused bypassed its Anti-Tamper technology in at least 26 PC games and is seeking monetary damages as well as a court order that would prevent further tampering of its DRM
Considering that the main product they shill obviously doesn't work, I wouldn't keep my hope up on them figuring anything out
Standard corporate America right there. You proved our product is a sham and worthless? How dare you we'll sue you out of existence!
God forbid they step back and rethink their product.
Yeah thought that as well, there probably is a good reason they resort to that. Seems a bit desperate. Good.
There's a reddit thread about this and the person replied to it like
All is fine. Everything will continue as normal.
😂
Denuvo sues anonymous game cracker
I'm not a lawyer, but does habeas corpus not apply in cases like this...?
I don’t think so because the accused isn’t jailed, but I’m just a guy on the internet so I could be wrong.
I am coming to your location right now to serve you this court summons. Please provide me with your residence so I can serve you this court summons. It is unlawful for you to not help me find you and give you this court summons :(
Sues an anonymous? Lmao
Yeah, how does that work?
You send a summons through the mail to... anywhere?
