!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

Because nobody was willing to spend money to try.

If you had a time machine and a few million dollars more than the tax write off and perceived brand damage they might well have done the same before the materials were destroyed.

Although, part of the reason coyote v acme did so well was the outrage over batgirl being cancelled.

I just wanted more Brendan Fraser.

Agreed. Had CvA been cancelled first, it's likely we'd all be watching Batgirl now

I feel like Coyote vs. Acme felt a lot more novel, which got it more attention. There are only a few hybrid real life/animated hybrid movies out there and they are mostly highly regarded. This was a novel premise to that idea, so there was an audience interested in seeing the movie.

In contrast, there wasn't as big a pent up audience for Batgirl. Superhero fatigue is real and having a woman lead has been shown to be underperforming recently.

Two major issues:

  • Batgirl would conflict with the new DCEU
  • Batgirl was still in post production, so still needed a lot of work to be "finished", unlike Coyote vs Acme which was apparently completed when it was shelved.

If I was to learn that the "they're not going to release it" hype around Coyote vs. ACME was, at the root, a deliberate, well guided marketing campaign, I would not be the least bit surprised.

The same may not be true of Batgirl because that was shelved first, and merely provided the powers that be the idea for marketing the ACME movie.

I also, maybe naively, think CvA is better known than batgirl? Otherwise I think people mostly have it.

I know they were shelved at the same time but I’m not sure where Batgirl was in terms of production. I believe Coyote vs Acme had finished and was in post, hence some of the outrage but I don’t know about Batgirl.

You can see all the promotional material.

You don't need to eat shit to know it tastes bad.

That makes sense. Trailers always give a reliable impression of a movie.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Did you actually watch the trailer? I just did. It looks horrifyingly bad. The actress sounded like something out of bottom tier B movie.

[–] Steve 1 points 1 day ago

The trailer for Diggeer looked bad also.

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Suicide Squad had a great trailer but was a shit movie. Sometimes you do have to take a nibble to know for sure.

So you believe just what people tell you? I got a bridge I want to sell to you. It's great. Just because people say it's bad doesn't make it so. Opinion's are like asshole's everyone has one.

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 3 points 1 day ago

I have no opinion on whether Batgirl would've been bad. But if that's your argument, you can't pass on any movie ever, you have to watch them all because how else would you know if it's worth your time?

[–] Kyrias@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

You don't seem well.
