Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

Rules
  1. πŸ˜‡ Be Nice!

    • Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
  2. 🏘️ Community Standards

    • Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
    • Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
    • Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
    • Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
  3. 🧬 Keep it Real

    • Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
  4. πŸ“½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due

    • Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
    • Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
  5. πŸ“‹ Post Formatting

    • Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
    • Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
    • When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
      βœ… Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
      ❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
  6. πŸ“¬ Post Frequency/SPAM

    • Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 πŸ–) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 πŸ–) will be removed.
  7. πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)

    • Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
      SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
  8. 🍿 Moderation

    • We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
    • When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists

The following artists are banned from the community.

  1. Jago
  2. Stonetoss
  3. GPrime85

It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.

Web Accessibility

Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.

When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:

Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

Much like the shanks Caesar got yet I still don't see us marching to the WH to get this shit over with. Pathetic

[–] Nasan@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 hours ago

I'm more surprised there aren't any states where the official way to vote is to shoot the bubble next to your chosen candidate. But I suppose the number of counted ballots would be like 5 for the entire state.

The pencil is mighier than the sword. But an AK47 is mightier than a pencil.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 4 points 2 hours ago

Just got home from voting. They gave me a pen and I had my Colt .45 in case of federal interference. We can do both!

[–] A_Chilean_Cyborg@feddit.cl 43 points 5 hours ago (3 children)

making the left distrust or be uninterested about voting is a far right psy ops to literally make their opponents not vote.

[–] Ptsf@lemmy.world -2 points 3 hours ago (3 children)

Left or right politics forcing voters to choose between two sides and ultimately become single issue voters is a deep state psy op to literally make everyone hate politics and allow oligarchical control.

[–] A_Chilean_Cyborg@feddit.cl 1 points 33 minutes ago

murrican democratic systemic skill issue.

Murrican democracy id actually quite a crap example of democracy

[–] ech@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 hour ago

So your answer is to let them win on voting instead of fighting on every front available to you?

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 8 points 2 hours ago

Okay but the two-party FPTP system is a separate issue that we can't immediately fix right now. The immediate issue that's right in front of us today is whether we put up road blocks to resist fascism, or whether we tear out the few road blocks that are left.

So for someone to sit on the sidelines and say "it doesn't matter either way because I disagree with the binary nature of the dichotomy on a matter of principle" is simply asinine.

making the left distrust guns is far right psy ops to literally make their opponents vote on bourgeoisie parties instead of taking the means of production

[–] TheJesusaurus@piefed.ca 4 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

The left don't distrust guns, liberals do. They are centrists.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 5 points 2 hours ago

Go far enough left, you get your guns back.

[–] TheJesusaurus@piefed.ca -1 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (2 children)

The left are fine thanks, I'm pretty sure you mean liberals?

[–] A_Chilean_Cyborg@feddit.cl 0 points 34 minutes ago (1 children)
[–] TheJesusaurus@piefed.ca 1 points 14 minutes ago

Do you see how after my name it says "@piefed.ca"

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.social 4 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Liberals are a powerful voting bloc.

Leftists spend so much time fighting with each other that they decide whoever is running isn't left enough and decide not to vote.

[–] TheJesusaurus@piefed.ca 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Ok that's fine, it doesn't make liberals leftist though

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.social 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

But that's mostly because liberals aren't a useless voting bloc.

[–] TheJesusaurus@piefed.ca 1 points 13 minutes ago (1 children)

No it's mostly because liberalism and leftism are completely at odds with one and other about their ideals and how they would like to see society function.

Don't let that stop you from continuing to be proudly a d willfully ignorant though.

Leftists say they hate conservativess and liberals but they hate other leftists more.

[–] ramenshaman@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

I've been going down a Japanese stationary supplies rabbit hole. Their mechanical pencils are on another level. Pens, too. I'm not a pen guy but I feel the need to get one now.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 27 points 6 hours ago

Voting is a zerg rush. That's why they want to depress turnout.

[–] gastroglizzy@piefed.social 17 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Just one part of a complete set: soap box, ballot box, jury box, ammo box. Make sure to collect them all!

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

I haven't yet served on a jury.

[–] tal@lemmy.today 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

https://www.ipsos.com/en-us/ipsos-survey-jury-service-and-legal-system

The survey shows that one in ten Americans have served on a jury in the last 10 years

So if you extend that, figure 79 year life expectancy, minimum of 18 years (dunno if that's true in all states, but it is in at least some), that's 61 years that you probably have to potentially serve on one. Figure maybe ~1% chance each year, then 61% chance over your lifetime.

[–] ilinamorato@lemmy.world 5 points 4 hours ago

In some states, it's not exactly random. I forget where I saw the analysis, but somewhere there was research showing that people with surnames higher in the alphabet were getting called in at a statistically higher rate.

[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 9 points 5 hours ago

Thought this was a John wick joke

[–] Eat_Your_Paisley@lemmy.world 8 points 6 hours ago

I'll take one each of the semiautomatics as well

[–] sculptor0725@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

The interns share a glock.
