Not surprised tbh

Elon is always a big hypocrite when it comes to literally anything that comes out of his mouth

Of course, it's why he's so popular with Republicans

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 12 points 7 months ago

And why he did a sudden pivot to get their support

[–] Microplasticbrain@lemm.ee 5 points 7 months ago

Hes just mad they take it without paying him

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 58 points 7 months ago

Not at all surprising. I will be equally unsurprised when it turns out that Dataminr is also selling that surveillance data to China.

But banning TikTok will solve the problem for sure!

Honestly, I gave up on the idea of personal privacy some time around the Snowden, Assange, Patriot Act, etc. era. I just assume now that info like name/address, political views, or what porn I surf are available to government agencies and probably others willing to pay for them.

what porn I surf

"Strap in, NSA. We're getting WEIRD with it today."

It's sort of the same with personal security. I know my home network has vulnerabilities. Most of them are patched, the rest are difficult or expensive.

But the real kicker is.. so you got into my network. I keep my porn in //nas/porn have at it.

Recently I looked into upping my privacy game after learning about everything companies like lexisnexis are collecting about me. It was extremely overwhelming. I'm considering mostly giving up on privacy, with exceptions in a few areas, and pivoting to making that info worthless by doing more to block ads.

We're in for some interesting scandals in the next decade as the sexting generation takes over politics at the same time as generative AI.

Yeah, we obviously can’t have them surveil for free. But if we’re making money off of it, it’s fine. That’s just smart business. /s

It’s always the freakin same with these people.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 11 points 7 months ago

Okay . . Now will the rest of you leave it?

Go on! Shoo!

[–] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 6 points 7 months ago

It’s “surveillance” when there isn’t a profit.
