He shoots the best or second best every year. Best 30ft shooter ever

[–] CallMePapi930@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

If Trae got 55+ wins while putting up 30 and 10 on 50/40/90 he would win MVP lol. Nobody is gonna go that hard with the narratives if the results so clearly say otherwise. Everybody who has won MVPs has against them. The problem with Trae is the hawks stay at .500 and that’s not enough to get peoples attention.

Also since 21-22 he hasn’t been anywhere close to 50/40/90 so him doing that would be huge considering the narrative that he’s Westbrook 2.0 with efficiency.

If Trae is that guy from the 21-22 season he has as good of a shot as anybody. Hawks just gotta win

Nobody thought playing like Steph Curry was a good idea until he did it. Nobody thought a high scoring guard could lead a team to titles until MJ did it.

Trae is the best 30+ ft shooter ever. JxmmyHighroller made great quality video on this in the off-season:

Some people say that Traes struggles this year have to do with his shot selection or that he’s just not a good shooter and a lot of nonsense. “He’s not Dame, he’s not Steph” exactly he’s also not Chris Paul or Steve Nash. He’s Trae Young.

It’s not an accident that this is the ONLY area where he’s not struggling this year albeit on a small sample size. He always looks in rhythm and has more space to take them. That range is so important to unlocking his game and allowing him to play with defenders.

It may be time to for Trae to revolutionize the game and take more 30 footers regularly.

What do y’all think?

I mean he’s definitely been driving but he’s been missing a lot of his floaters and layups too it’s not like he’s only taking 3s or the majority of his shot is coming from 3. The shots he’s taking from 3 have been good shots too

He’s simply off from everywhere

As far as his reputation around the league Trae has had a very rocky career despite him putting up 27 and 10 on 59% TS since his sophomore season.

He’s a polarizing player and has dropped to 21-30 on most of the player rankings after a disappointing season last year. The Hawks have been in the play in and gotten eliminated in the first round the last two seasons since reaching the ECF in 2021.

His best season:

(2021-22) - 28/4/10 on 46/38/90 (lead the league in total points and assists)

Last season:

26/3/10 on 43/34/89

He’s been called overrated and underrated a lot over the past year

So what do you guys expect from Trae and the Hawks this season?

That’s absolutely a fair take. I was just speaking on the offensive part of it and people assuming Trae couldn’t play next to Jokic

[–] CallMePapi930@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Thank you. He’s a great all star caliber player but not on Traes level at least not from what we’ve seen so far.

So there was a thread yesterday about what Trae Young would look like on the Nuggets. I think Trae and Jokic would be a lot DIFFERENT than Murray and Jokic but not worse offensively.

I think offensively it’s better(not too much better but better) because Trae is much better offensive player, being a wayyy better playmaker and a wayyy more consistent scorer. Now defensively Jamal is solid so it would obviously be considerably worse.

The best guys Trae has had are Dejounte Murray(all star replacement) Clint Capela(on the older side) and good ol’ John Collins who’s shooting regressed from 37-40% to 28% after his finger injury.

Jamal is playing with the best player in the world who might just be a being a top 10-15 player of all time, MPJ who is one of the top 5 shooters in the world, and Aaron Gordon who’s all star caliber, a great defender, lob threat/cutter who can also hit the 3.

For some reason people are acting like Joker has the ball in his hand 24/7 on the Nuggets and Jamal strictly plays off ball when that’s not the case.

Imagine a world where every game the defense has to focus their attention on Jokic and Trae is free to roam around and hit catch and shoot 3s which he’s great at. He just hasn’t had much of a chance to catch and shoot in Atlanta.

Then when Jokic is off the floor, Trae would run the offense 15x better than Jamal ever could. Trae creates the best shot quality for his teammates in the league.

I hate this assumption that guys who are the #1 option wouldn’t adjust their game to play with great player.

I am a Hawks fan but also a Nuggets fan so this was interesting for me. I was downvoted for saying Trae is a top 3 playmaker in the league and for disagreeing with a guy who said Trae is only a little better than Murray. Murray is a great player, around top 25 but he’s not on Traes level at least not yet. He was struggling to consistently put up 20 and be efficient on Denver until his 5th-6th year in the league but of course no on remembers that.

Now Jamal is this flawless player who’s never had bad possessions where he’s dribbled the clock out with Jokic on the floor and MPJ begging for a pass. I watch these guys play. Trae and Jamal both have flaws. One just plays with Jokic and the other plays with Dejounte Murray.

You’re assuming a lot about Trae who has been the man since day 1, but Trae wants to win and not necessarily as the man. If the Hawks don’t improve significantly this year, which I think they will, Trae will ask for a trade and he would gladly go to a team with a top 10 guy. Trae hasn’t had many options in Atlanta especially with Nate McMillan coaching. You’ll be surprised by what you see form trae this season under Snyder

[–] CallMePapi930@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It’s the same thing. People are assuming a guy who’s clearly the better player wouldn’t adjust his game to play with the best player in the world. People forget Jamal was completely inconsistent in that role and had the most consistent stretch of how career in that role this year in the playoffs. Trae has never had a shooter like MPJ on his team while simultaneously having the best player in the world to take all the pressure off him.

When Trae plays the goal of the other team is to shut Trae down because if you do that you shut the hawks down. If Trae is just free to roam around because you have to double jokic, MPJ and KCP with out there next to Trae, and having AG as a cutter/lob threat he would look completely different.

You’re assuming a lot about Trae, who’s a #1 and been that since day 1 while Murray is a #2. If he was in Traes situation in Atlanta his whole career I don’t think he would do anything compared to what Trae has

[–] CallMePapi930@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Trae is much better. Trae with MPJ, AG and Jokic around him would be much more efficient and would play the non Jokic minutes way better than Murray. Murray is a top 25 guy, Trae is a top 15-17 guy
