And GTA / video games normalizes mass shootings?

[–] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 2 points 8 hours ago

Afaik if you put something into the valve cap it will press down onto the pin and deflates it when you screw it back on.

[–] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 1 points 8 hours ago

Yeah, 12 hours later it does.

Because people are fucking stupid.

I don't think they have much of a choice at this point. And yes, I'd support it. They clearly should've never agreed to the Budapest Memorandum with its half hearted security guarantees.

Warframe burned me out like crazy with their FOMO shit & dark patterns. No thanks. I'm done with this kind of live service shit that turns games into annoying chores.

Some use the beta branch feature for this but hopefully an official feature makes this more widespread - especially for those games with their big modding communities. I'd rather update the game a bit later when all the important mods also have caught up.

Deluding yourself is neither going to help, nor is it all the good we can do. And what do you mean I don't have to participate? I doubt any of your guys footprint is even anywhere near as small as mine. It's not me that you have to convince to fucking do something when I'm the one who wants those "extremistic" measures being taken.

[–] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Eh. Obviously not great and of course it will get worse but a scale from 5.2 to 5.6 is bound to look extreme in either direction.

My guy... It's not the forest dying, but our sole basis of life. Economic hardships? None of that matters when the climate collapse goes on, and it will. We did fuck all even before Trump, right on our way to 3 degrees Celsius globally. We already seem to have reached 1.5 degrees LONG before even our worst predictions. And under Trump the US will backtrack HARD on any sort of token climate policy. The world cannot compensate for the emissions of the US. And you may think getting people to fight help, but it doesn't. Trump and his cronies do not care how much you're protesting, in fact, they'll have plans for that too to suppress it. But that also does not matter, because here's the truth of the matter: NO ONE CARES!

Look around, look at how few people actually vote for Green candidates and parties, look at how many are already crying about a bit of inflation and price gauging. Real climate policies, the ones we'd need, would drive our economies into the ground. Remember the economic downturn during covid? If the emission fall of that would've gone on until 2035 THEN we would've been on track, meaning we'd have to experience this kind of economic freefall continuously - JUST FOR THE TARGETED 1.5 DEGREE GOAL (which again, came MUCH earlier than anticipated)!

Neither corporations, nor politicians, NOR VOTERS, actually care! People who truly want proper climate action being taken are a fringe movement of "extremists". Maybe we see some of them turn to climate terrorism, but I doubt even that would help. In reality, we'd need a proper global climate revolution, but there's 0 support for that. And by the time shit is going to hit the fan sufficiently it will be long too late to avoid anything that isn't some post apocalyptic nightmare full of suffering for the few people that still survive.

This election was decisive, and humanity lost. Fuck Americans. Fuck humans.

It's just copium. "But we can still..." i.e. things that won't happen anyway because they already did not happen before and are for sure going the reverse way under Trump. The few people who claim to care need to stop making themselves hopeful and happy with delusions, it's not going to help. We'd need severe extreme measures now, things the general public would not want. That's just the unfortunate truth of it, but one that people have to realize. Just like how people need to realize how many people want far right fascists like Trump, or the garbage parties in Europe. Things will get much worse now.

Edit: Update! See comment below!

So, this has been going on for a long while now but I hoped after a bit of a hiatus it would maybe fix itself when I come back. Basically, the game does not render any of the close up natural ground textures around a certain radius around me anymore.

It is basically like it stopped rendering the high quality textures for them, as it is literally using the chunk based rendering of the game where it caps out, being affected by zoom / fov levels too. So when I'm in the ship in third person cam and landed, it looks more like a triangle expanding from the cockpit to the back. With the scanner I can even see through the ground and highlight ores or chests beneath, which would normally be blocked, which would tell me that this is within the rendering pipeline of the game.

See album for screenshots & system specs: https://imgur.com/a/CzJTyeV

And no, it is not my GPU. This does not happen in other games, including Fallout NV, and I even switched out to my old RX 580, which showed the exact same problem. It's also not mods, since I tested it on a fresh installation & prefix, with various Proton versions. So at this point I can only assume it must be something with my OS / system config. But when the issue started, I also tried to revert back to an older kernel, which again, did nothing.

I'd really like to avoid trying a new installation of my OS as I'm really sick of going through the backup, restoration & setup process again.

Edit: One detail I forgot to mention. Some single squares do continue to render, even within the invisible radius. But when I go to them and look at the ground, my FPS and frame times start to tank heavily. Unsure if that's related at all though.
