As a travel photographer, I only carry one 99% of the time anyway. It's a Nikkor 24-300 f5.6 zoom. I can pretty much get it to do anything.

I am primarily a travel photographer who likes to travel light. I own four lenses for my full-frame Nikon but the one that is on my camera 99% of the time is a 24-300 Nikkor F 4.5/5.6 zoom. I have heard it called the "Magic Lens" because it has everything you could want for shooting just about anything while traveling. That given, if it was a little faster and not so damn heavy, I would truly never shoot anything else.
I own four but really only use one. I am primarily a travel photographer and I NEVER carry a camera bag when out walking and shooting. So my Nikkor 24-300 f 4.5/5/6 on a full frame camera is about as perfect as I can get for what I do.
Go for it. Sounds like a great idea.
