Oh so this is why Batum is in

If all your starters were injured

If?

Chet is #29 in DPM and #18 in PER, All-Star is possible but I doubt he'll get All-NBA

You want NBA games to be less competitive?

Oh there's only two consequential games left in the West, might make a matrix for that then

If we assume that the rate that players get tired is linear, then as OT wears on one team will be more tired than the other and their chances of winning each subsequent OT probably decreases. So it's probably less likely than the actual theoretical odds

The Raptors still have a chance to get in via wildcard, albeit a super unlikely one

He doesn't hit anywhere near the same volume as Curry. Curry averaged over 4.5 3PM over the last few years (besides that 2020 season), Ty has never gone over 3 until this year

Some people do better in high pressure situations, some people do worse. I guess it's just a fact of life. If there was some way to cultivate a "clutch gene" I'm sure athletes (and rich people across all fields) would have been spending millions to do so.

It should be PPG over best X (let's say 70) games. This means that people that are competing for the scoring record can afford to play more games and have bad games without ruining their averages.

East Group C Standings

Team GP W L PF PA PD
Boston Celtics 2 2 0 229 212 17
Brooklyn Nets 3 2 1 340 332 8
Orlando Magic 3 2 1 333 328 5
Chicago Bulls 2 0 2 204 212 -8
Toronto Raptors 2 0 2 212 234 -22

Still lots of games to go in this group, and everyone's pretty much in the race.

The subreddit doesn't allow images for some reason, so here's a link to the image.

TL;DR

  • If the Lakers win and the Suns beat both of Memphis and Portland, Lakers advance with Suns #2

  • If the Lakers win with Suns losing either, Lakers advance with Jazz #2

  • If the Jazz win with the Suns losing either, Jazz advance with Lakers #2

  • If the Jazz win and Suns win both, we get a weird scenario where the point differential determines #1 and #2. The graphic helps break that down

There actually is a scenario where Portland can get in as #2, but that's not in the graphic as it would require Lakers to beat Jazz and Portland to beat the Suns by 13-44 points or more (depending on the margins of the Lakers-Jazz game).

With 3 losses in their group, it is now mathematically impossible for the Wizards to advance as the 1st or 2nd ranked spot in their group.

Unfortunately, Jordan Poole just could not do it.
